Gunner145
This subject may be a tad controversial but it seems we all love tech and emulation and getting a 1UP over the powers that be wherever possible. Do you, are you using or plan to ever try/use IPTV ?? I'm happily using a very reliable IPTV sub, pretty much anything you can think of, live TV, PPV events, Live Sports and all that XXX stuff from pretty much any country you can think of. wearecity
I've friends who use them, I don't personally. I don't blame people for using them, because some companies have taken the piss, with pricing for years. But look at how services such as Spotify etc, have shown, the vast majority of people will stop the naughtiness, if offered convenience and value for money. I stopped most naughty things, when I stopped gambling hundreds a month away and could actually afford to buy things, if I wanted them. I have Prime, Netflix, Britbox, Xbox subs, even though, I might not used some services for months. They are inexpensive for me, not even a couple of days wages in total. That's not to say, I still don't sometimes, watch something, somewhere I shouldn't. I have the films etc, on DVD/Bluray but find streaming much more convenient. James Bond films is one such thing, none of the streaming services have all the Bonds, but I found a website with high quality streams of them all.

Well this could become just a huge massive thread all of its own... We could rock back to the early days of P2P Kazza, Limewire, WinMX and eventually the start of Bit-torrent (remember 'SuperNova' ??) or even those privi to scene ax (if you know then you know). Piracy has and always will be a thing. Yours thoughts ??
nails
i use IPT every single day. i have tried IPTV once and found it very very difficault to navigate. that said, everything is available at your finger tips. to say you have 10,000 channels and more is an understatement.

IPTV isnt so bad, get yourself a cheap android box or firestick, load it up with 'Tivimate' and your totally sorted. IPT (Invite only torrent site ??). Not a bad tracker and quite easy to maintain a decent ratio. Edited December 18, 2024 by Gunner145
slotsmagic
I used to be the king of piracy, but these days (age, actually having cash, getting bored of having access to everything) means I can't be bothered! I got a kick from gathering / cataloguing stuff more than I did enjoying the content - but as the collection grew, so did the stress of keeping up to date and correctly tagged - so I knocked that on the head. Bit like FME. I can download the odd layout, play it and enjoy. But if I got a disc with 10000 layouts on? I'd probably be overwhelmed by it. Same with the idea of 10000 channels. Eff that!! Happy non-gambler since 1st January 2025! (if anyone else needs or wants to quit, I recommend Allen Carr's 'Easyway to Stop Gambling'.

A decent IPTV app and you filter out all the crap so you basically end up with your languages of choice. Mines setup to English/USA/Canada plus Netflix, Disney, Amazon Prime and all that extra paid for stuff, its rather nice at a fraction of the price. pbb
This seems like a sales pitch... If you already know what iptv is then you either have it or against it. to me highlighting what it has got seems like your trying to gain interest but this is an FME forum, not IPTV.

Yes had Kodi, IPTV etc and they are all crap. No matter what you do, what settings you change they lag like hell, buffering if too many folks are on the same stream etc etc. I mean even genuine Netflix struggled with the Tyson fight so I can't see how dodgy IPTV streams are going to be better. Boulderdash
Whilst IPTV is a fraction of the price of a sky sub, I'm happy to pay for the sky interface due to the amount of timeshifting I do - watching cricket from Australia or new Zealand at a time that suits me, for example. Pausing, rewinding, recording, no lag, buffering or other such cock.

I'm not fussed about price, and I still don't think it would interest me. I have YT Premium, I mainly watch PC building, retro game, retro technology and other content - which I doubt there are TV series for anyway. Honestly - for me, it would be of no value, it could be free and I still wouldn't use it. I know people who do, mainly for sports. I have zero interest in sports. I can't be arsed with modern TV or films (my film collection ends with films up to about 2010), my TV series are all old and I've ripped my physical collection to MKV across multiple drives. You could give me 10000 channels for 1p a month and I still wouldn't be interested. Happy non-gambler since 1st January 2025! thealteredemu
Fire sticks are not really powerful enough. Once you get a vpn running and maybe kodi etc. I don’t have any buffering issues whatsoever on my nvidia tv pro, had it a few years, one of my better purchases. I run kodi through vpn with a premium paid for file hosting service for high quality streams. J

Kodi is not IPTV, it can be used as an IPTV player but even that i wouldnt recommend, Kodi uses repositories that are coded to access streams from websites that may be hosting sports/tv/movies etc etc and they really are somewhat overloaded as they are freely available to the masses, Kodi addons like to buffer and are unwatchable most of the time. IPTV can do all of the above, theres typically a Live tv section, VOD (VOD - Video On Demand) and tv catch-up, you can also record via software such as Tivimate. 16 hours ago, thealteredemu said: Fire sticks are not really powerful enough. J I agree firesticks aint the best way to go, you get get some pretty cheap android boxes these days though that pack more than enough power for streaming. Im not a huge fan of Kodi but each to there own i guess, I suspect the premium service you talking about may have the initials RD but I could be wrong on that one. 17 hours ago, nails said: ive got a firestick that i jail broke myself after reading a few tips on the web, but even with super fast fibre broad band, it lags like no tomorrow so i gave up. An android box would of been a better way to go, it also depends on what your using, if your using free streams such as Kodi addons then buffering is to be expected regardless of your internet speed as those streams are saturated by people, there are also many paid IPTV subs that can suffer server overloading, it took me a long time to settle on one that im happy with. Some interesting responses so far I will say.

niallquinn
Top tip, do not buy it from any reseller. Only buy it from someone who runs the server(s) themselves. not off some dick down the pub. Otherwise, it'll be shite, more buffering than the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. 384 channels of Nutflix. And about 100,000 other channels and VOD, catchup etc. Love multiscreen, watch our match on one half of the telly, watch the boro/sheff united/Leeds or whoever is playing in the top 6 of the championship around us. It used to be only sky, now you can literally watch every single game, including the national league, and that's just the footy. If you're into your sport, or films in 4k it's the bollocks. All the ISPs have various means of detection and blocking, except I get a free VPN with mine, so it doesn't matter. Nothing gets blocked, or buffers, or stutters, using TVImate that's built into the telly. Amazon not very good at blocking stuff either. A 3 year old kid could jailbreak a firestick. Press a button 5 times for the dev options, using downloader to get whichever tv player you want, and it installs fine. That said, I happily watch the Sherlock Holmes channel on Pluto every day, legally, for nowt. I like Pluto, you get hardly any adverts, and it's the biggest tv streaming platform in the world. Seems a little harsh but hey whatever...lol Regarding the android box I mentioned above, its absolutely awesome for streaming IPTV and pretty much overkill for IPTV only. I'm gonna see what kind of emulation I can get out of this box, I got a feeling I will be able to squeeze a fair bit out of its chipset. The next thing is to get 'Batocera' booting off an external NVME SSD straight in to 'Batocera' and see how far I get, off topic I know so back to IPTV chat...
