Will scorpion 6 ever be emulated into mfme or is this not possible ??

Not in MFME, no. The author of MFME (Wizard) sadly died a couple of years back, and so the last version will be v20.1.

However there is nothing to say that Scorpion 6 won't ultimately end up in MAME or similar.

I'm sure someone mentioned a while back that there was an emulator shown running on YouTube, which I believe was used by one of the last reel-based machine manufacturers, and I think it showed Scorpion 6 (but could have been Pluto 6?) running.

Don't hold me to that, don't get your hopes up - if (like me) you can't code it yourself, you just have to hope someone else does it for you - and support them in any way you can.

Happy non-gambler since 1st January 2025!
(if anyone else needs or wants to quit, I recommend Allen Carr's 'Easyway to Stop Gambling'.
Still happy to dump ROMs for people and that sort of stuff :)

I'm assuming you mean this that was simulated?

Ah, yes, that could well have been it. Apologies, I thought it was mentioned at the time about it possibly being an in-house emulation tool, which wouldn't have surprised me!

If that's a simulation that an absolutely stunning job, let's be honest!

Excalibur shown above was a real machine - I had one locally - but it got pulled as there was an empty on it.

Those with a keen eye will notice it appeared later as banker's vault - one of the last test machines from Betcom.

Sadly Betcom was no more thanks to the pandemic which was a real shame as some better stuff was being produced. Having said that the reel based stuff is dying off now anyway.

Not unless Re-Animater, can be reanimted.

Since Chrisses passing a few years ago, obiouvsly nothing has progressed.

I was hoping the person in charge of his pc's and code would have put something out, via github, then at least anyone can chip in,  But I guess that's up to the family to decide to be allowed, and the person in charge.  Don't know if he's still here, is still currently at the Mecca, but, it's still a touchy question to ask.

I'm a firm believer in having emulators which target specific things or groups.

MFME was really good and this. MAME on the other hand is trying to be the go to place for anything which needs emulating whether it be space invaders or the latest games unit and as such doesn't always do a particularly good job.

Scorpion6 is certainly possible in an emulator targeted just at fruits but starting from scratch and having artwork editors etc is a massive job. As Wizard kept MFME closed source it'd probably be wrong if it was ever released.

No one is working on sc4/5/6 (or MAME-side FME dev in general) right now.  I am planning some work in MAME in the not-too-far off future (maybe around 6 months-1 year) after I've got Oasis to a certain level (an FME project that uses MAME for its 'emulation backend').

The work will definitely include some work on hoppers/note acceptors/coin mechs, to accompany implementing ccTalk emulation.  That will get a lot of sc4 out of Door Open only mode.  sc5/6 needs DES implementing.  There's an initial very basic (skeleton) sc6 driver in MAME but it doesn't do anything you can actually see right now :)  E.g:

While MAME is very far behind MFME at present, it's the only open source platform we have to realistically progress the scene, so that's where anyone who can do this kind of work has been pooling their efforts.

Here's an (already out of date) vid of Oasis Layout Editor running (in Unity Engine dev mode, but it compiles to a standard desktop app)  an sc4 machine thru MAME in Door Open mode:

FME dev is still being chipped away at here and there, it's just that these big projects just take a lot of time and motivation alongside demanding day jobs :)
