I'm confused. You claimed last Friday that you knew 'Harry Headwound' from YouTube personally (in the Can You Dig It? thread) and yet now you are asking for help with a download you've presumably made via eBay or Facebook?

I'd like to believe if you really knew 'Harry Headwound', you would have asked him, and he would have directed you here, or probably helped you with his personal collection?

Thanks for all your help guys.

I'm a helpful chap but the story just didn't add up for me, combined with the fact that if you buy something faulty your first port of call should be the person you paid, especially since they are making money off the back of the hard working layout designers and late emulation coder.

I do hope you get it going and it's possible someone else will contact you and help you get it running (and probably call me / us a bunch of c-words for not helping).

will defo be chasing them for help and if they dont help then 100% getting my full refund.

Maybe when you get the refund donate it to Dif, then download everything you need from here and we will be happy to help you then with any issues as we are a friendly bunch of guys and dolls.

Or C***s as some might call us for not helping you. 🤣🤣
On a serious note just donate anyway even if you don’t get any cash back from other site it’s well worth it.

This thread is reminiscent of the sort of 'warm welcome' that was dished out on Fruit-Emu back in the day when a new member joined who hadn't quite followed the 'rules', despite the fact they probably wouldn't have known they existed in the first place.  I say life's too short for bickering, so either help the guy out or get GTFO of this thread.

@Danny C - I don't know what version of MFME you've got, or what games you have, but the best place to start is to

  • install MFME on your PC and run it, or simply run the .exe if that's all you've got

  • go to game Manager image.png.6f78b0836bfe6690eecc58089d09e4d8.png

  • then Database and Set Main Game Folder image.png.28141e46baa2b4b7900b42861fc46779.png

  • then point to the folder where all you games are image.png.df4ec2a2eec7744d8eaf20cef4bf9b0d.png

  • you'll need to make sure all your games are unzipped first, otherwise MFME won't see them - so check for that first

  • once you've done that, go back to Database and Scan all image.png.a35c12669df556c1e78b3fcee3e29ac6.png

  • You should see a green list of games for you to choose from image.png.ec92ae421f46e30856d2e2dd2a281094.png

  • Simply click on a game you want to play, and it should load up for you

  • Enjoy 😀

If this doesn't work, I might be about this afternoon if you've got any questions.  Or maybe some others will be willing to help...?

Just to clarify why I took the position I took - and you are free to disagree and tell me to get the eff out of the thread.

This was the first post by the OP on the forum :

Thank you very much, this was very useful and enjoyable video. Also I know the dude that made this video so will definitely find out more about the trick

Now, I would have assumed, based on the above, that the OP knew 'HH'. If I knew 'HH', I'd probably have said 'hi HH, I want to get into emulation, how do I do it?'. Based on that I would think that 'HH' would probably have said 'join DIF', albeit probably in a nicer way. 'HH' seems like a top bloke. Probably even the sort of bloke that would offer a collection ready to go, for free. Or maybe a beer.

If you watched 'HH''s channel, you'd probably also see that DIF is mentioned pretty frequently as THE place to download content. Not eBay, not Amazon, not a car-boot sale, so I'd like to believe that someone who watches his content would already be aware of this being the place to download content.

Also, did the user join here, based off of having watched content from 'HH', and then subsequently decide to go and buy the content in bulk from another site, rather than making a small donation here and building up a sensible collection?

Yes, those are assumptions on my part, but had he not specifically stated knowing 'HH' I would probably have been more lenient.

Then we have the issue people seem to have these days with an unwillingness to go back to the person with whom they formed a contract. So, he has bought something 'faulty' from someone who makes money off the back of layout designers and the late Wizard. Rather than going back to that seller - who makes money for doing nothing off the work of people here, living and dead - he decided to ask for help here. It could be MFME, it could be a car, it could be a TV. My default response will be, in 99% of cases - you need to go back to the seller. Your contract is with them. Since I just happen to despise the bellend who I assume is the seller, I think the best course of action - for the start - would be to put in a chargeback or similar against them and at least show them that they are not immune to financial penalty, and if they are going to profit of our / Wizard's work, they are at least going to offer some customer service.

It does however also bring me to another point. I do feel that as the analog machines are all but dead now, with the exception of Reflex I believe, there will come a point where we really ought to package layouts and share via BitTorrent or similar, without the emulator, to remove the ability of people to profit in the first place. At the moment there really isn't an easy way for people to do so. I'm not a fan of large dumps of things (I find that if I have too much content to play with I get overwhelmed), but some people do prefer a large collection and just have done with it.

That's a debate for another day though I think, I'm sure it's been covered before.

I wasn't aiming my barbs at anyone in particular.  We should be blaming the sellers, not the people who buy stuff in good faith.  It's just that these sort of threads tend to descend into a pile-on with people getting banned, and I didn't want to see that happen to anyone.  Let's try and help Danny out and maybe he'll have a good experience and donate to the site and become an active member 🙂

Hey guys, at the start of all this I did just want to play barcrest machines so I downloaded the MFME player onto my laptop then without considering this site or fruit-emu, I just googled barcrest fruit machine emulator it sent me a link to fruitmachineemulation.com and that’s where I purchased it. Seeing 500+ machines for 4.99 I just thought to myself what a steal! (Fool for thinking that) now after struggling to get it working on my laptop, this is where I am at. Not trying to upset anyone on here was just seeking advice.

No need to apologise is loyal members are very protective of the hobby we love.

most of us including myself started our fme journey through a fleabay disc and getting em running was a task for me. I bought a disc with approx 200 on for £1.99 at the time, I got one layout working and thought my dreams came true. Eastenders it was then got monopoly £25 running and I was made up .
I eventually found fruit-emu by searching fruit machine emulation via Google and the rest is history

you will eventually get em running, just make each individual layout have their own folder as like me you’ll encounter conflicting files

just remember when you do get it going stay active within this site and I’d personally donate if you can for unlimited downloads throughout the years subs

Have to agree with Vecs, after reading your responses to people’s comments you come across as a genuine person who has made a mistake and owned the fact, which I have the upmost respect for you doing so.Maybe you could start from scratch by downloading the latest mfme 20.1 from Dif and then start downloading barcrest machines from the legacy section. Don’t know if you’ve already seen this guide to loading mfme for first time but it may help.
