Now i'm pretty sure this was the name of the machine. Im certain it was made for bfmulator many years ago.

It was a double/nothing style machine, £3 jackpot. The 27 way symbol was a blue star...

Had a search and I seem to have found a copy here,

https://www.theoldcomputer.com/roms/index.php?folder=Arcade/Fruit-Machines/Layouts/BFMulator

But I cannot find it anywhere else! Be great to have this game made on mfme, but at the moment i'm having a hard time locating the layout! Don't really want to sign upto a random website.

Does anyone have this?

@Geddy maybe?

Rings a bell, feel like I might have seen it in one of Dave's old warehouse videos but could also be wrong!

I've only heard of a BAS machine called this  I think

BAS did Stop The Clock, a 2p/5p £5 jackpot machine (possibly lower jackpot too?). It was a 27 way machine with gamble so similar, but not sure it's the one Spa is after.

Happy non-gambler since 1st January 2025!
(if anyone else needs or wants to quit, I recommend Allen Carr's 'Easyway to Stop Gambling'.
Still happy to dump ROMs for people and that sort of stuff :)

Here's the BFMulator version of Beat The Clock.  It'll need converting for it to work on MFME.  It should be easy enough to do.

MDM Beat The Clock.zip 2.08 MB · 2 downloads

Thanks mate!

Hope you are well :)

As fine as ever, mate. :)

Tried converting the layout over to MFME but the converter didn't like the layout for some reason.  Complaining about the button's .BMP files.

Plus it might not even work without the converter issues.  Tried loading a fresh set of roms into MFME but I can't get anywhere with them.  Makes a little tune when loading, but nothing else.

I tried too. No joy, same error.

It actually freezes up in bfmulator 2.07. Got the feature, and that's all she wrote!

As a non techie type currently miles away from a PC, I'd wonder about the following...

ROMs possibly hacked / modded to work in BFMulator OR vice versa - some game-specific hack in BFMulator that never made it in to MFME?

Scorpion 1 MDM machines have always been a mystery, emulation-wise.  Smokey Vs The Bandit also has issues on MFME, but Crazy Crocs (which is also a S1 MDM machine) runs fine!?  Some weird protections going on that haven't been fully worked out on MFME I would guess.

  • 4 weeks later...

Works in MAME but missing sound roms.

Appears to soft lock (a couple of blocks of light flashing), after playing enough credits to get either Nudges or a Feature board (I am unfamiliar with the game). This is likely due to the fruit machine's program awaiting a signal from the emulated sound chip that a sample has finished playing.

This may be fixed either by sourcing the original sound roms, making some substitute sound roms from another game, if after that the issue still persists, then the issue will be fixed by implementing the correct feature in the sound chip emulation (to provide the 'sample finished playing' signal or 'sample is playing' status).

When fully working in Mame, and Oasis project is at that level (1+ years!) the layout can be converted from BFEmulator -> MFME... then hopefully improved with high res artwork etc... then extracted and imported to Oasis Layout editor, and built to be played in the Machine Player app or Arcade Sim v2 (though it can be played now in the Layout Editor, but that's not really the nicest way to play).  So one day it will be playable :)
