it needs to be the redistributable off that link Wizard posted the link on there if that doesn't sort it then you have a unique problem

Yeah I grabbed it from that link.

Baffles me how say SC5 MPU5, even Astra A1 work like a charm, but others don't.  I'm still working my way through each tech.

Can't be graphic related surely, its got to be sound.  There are no Firewall, Malware, Windows Defender, DirectX issues either as like I say newer techs run fine.

Mine’s an I7 32Gb Ram & RTX 4050

I’ve been trying to get my Poolplay DX working more than anything.  For some reason the reels pop out of sync.  Strangely enough last thing last night I tried the Classic which seemed to run ok.

i can post my windows updates later if you like.

Did you get this sorted?

Not really.  Sometimes MFME works perfectly, sometimes it crashes, especially with Poolplay.  I even redid a smaller res version yesterday which ran perfectly then went back to the original and that ran fine too.  I’m stumped!!

Is it just a particular layout or is it happening to everything?

One thing I had to do with Windows 11 to use Photoshop and get certain games to run in change auto window size scaling from 150% to 149%.

Before I did that various games and Photoshop would go completely bonkers and not function. Still to this day I can't get Metro Exodus to run though, Windows is a complete joke, each successive generation seems to break something else so it becomes useless. Luckily Linux is getting really quite good these days, in another 5-10 year's it should likely be able to mimic Windows perfectly.🙏 I would love to ditch Windows, and android on phone, we need a Linux for mobile as well.

Worrying times this.

I've yet to go to Win11, but we always knew the day would come when issues may well develop like this.

Hopefully it's a one off and can be fixed through some configuration options / driver updates etc.

But it may not be long until we need to look at a Virtual Machine to keep MFME running.

My laptop has upgraded to windows 11 - no issues at all running mfme

Sorry to pull up an old thread but I am having the same issues with MFME crashing in certain games and wondered if anyone ever found a solution?

An example for me would be "A Knights Trail", it will load up ok and then after maybe 1 or 2 spins it will just freeze. MFME itself is still functional but the game does not respond? Most other games run perfectly fine but some show this same behaviour.

I have the latest runtimes installed along with directx and Im running an up-to-date Windows 11 with latest drivers for everything. This is my cabinet pc specs:

MSI A320 motherboard

Ryzen 5 3500x cpu

Nvidia GTX 950 GPU

8gb ram (dual channel)

I can do some more digging and provide more games that have this issue if it helps.

You could run Task Manager (Ctrl/Alt/Del) and view CPU and GPU % and view the performance. 8 GB of Ram might not be enough.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion. I gave it another test and there doesn't appear to be any spike in cpu, gpu or memory usage when the crash occurs. I took a before and after crash screenshot:

Before:

After:

I managed a full game, feature board and jackpot before it randomly crashed whereas normally it happens within the first few spins of the reels. Bizarre.

OK so I'm still having issues with certain layouts which cause MFME to lock up.

I mean it's not as if my laptop is crap seeing as it's an Intel I7, RTX 4050 graphics with 32GB ram running Windows 11 (home).    I'm convinced it's a memory issue (which it shouldn't be) but all is not lost as I think I've found a way round it - even though I can't really explain it properly.

Let's take two recent layouts for example, Vectra's Son of Dracula and Damici's Crazy Fruits...

Loading both as I would normally do they both lock up during initialisation and I have to load up task manager, find MFME and 'end task'.  Looking at memory usage in task manager it's reporting about 10+ times the memory it really should be using for a normal MFME layout, even considering the size of Damici's layout it shouldn't be using anywhere near that much memory.  WTF???!!!

Now the really WEIRD thing.....

If I load either layout and immediately enter EDIT mode and let the machine initialise as far as the attract mode sequence, then switch edit mode off the layout runs normally with no massive memory issues whatsoever and I can play the layout as normal.

I have no explanation why this works but it does.  Anyone else having a similar issues then give this a try.

Cheers
