So tiresome lol I avoided any Nintendo machines in Arcade Sim, and am already considering a Nintendo block on the online library of 'official' Oasis machines that can be used, just so they don't turn up and trash the party because we have an official Donkey Kong machine in the Arcade Machine LIbrary. They've had sooo long to calm down and get with the scene, and it's still relentless BS Edited March 5, 2024 by johnparker007 [ Arcade Simulator ] Pre-alpha installer: https://tinyurl.com/2kcrkprh | Donation info: https://tinyurl.com/yzvgl4xo [ Community Drive ] The drive: http://tinyurl.com/yckze665 [ Fruit Machine Database ] Initial google sheets (WIP): https://tinyurl.com/2c5znxzz [ Fruit Machine ROM Archive ] The archive: https://tinyurl.com/3jhzbueb [ Fruit Machine Settings/Tests Guide ] https://tinyurl.com/yuebw8b5 [ MAME (fixes/improvements) ] Commits: https://github.com/johnparker007/mame/commits/master/?author=johnparker007 [ MFME Launch ] Source code: https://github.com/johnparker007/MFMELaunch [ Oasis ] Source code: https://github.com/johnparker007/Oasis [ Sound ROM Editor ] Source code: https://github.com/johnparker007/SoundRomEditor

So sadly we can't have Nintendo video games in Oasis (which will end up with a lot more internet exposure than the original fruit machine focused Arcade Sim), it's not just worth it to get their crappy lawsuits They're simultaneously one of the best and worst video companies to ever exist. 1 [ Arcade Simulator ] Pre-alpha installer: https://tinyurl.com/2kcrkprh | Donation info: https://tinyurl.com/yzvgl4xo [ Community Drive ] The drive: http://tinyurl.com/yckze665 [ Fruit Machine Database ] Initial google sheets (WIP): https://tinyurl.com/2c5znxzz [ Fruit Machine ROM Archive ] The archive: https://tinyurl.com/3jhzbueb [ Fruit Machine Settings/Tests Guide ] https://tinyurl.com/yuebw8b5 [ MAME (fixes/improvements) ] Commits: https://github.com/johnparker007/mame/commits/master/?author=johnparker007 [ MFME Launch ] Source code: https://github.com/johnparker007/MFMELaunch [ Oasis ] Source code: https://github.com/johnparker007/Oasis [ Sound ROM Editor ] Source code: https://github.com/johnparker007/SoundRomEditor
Johnnyafc
Yeah they don’t like emulation but use it on the Switch for GameCube , Gameboy , N64 etc when it makes them money
MrPillze
yuzu devs were earning 39k a month patreon and paywalling fixs for unreleased games, imo they were taking it abit far. as for tropic haze llc(yuzu company) they will likely declare bankrupt and pay nothing.

wearecity
I'm sure these emulators will live on. Of course updates may not happen, so we are left with under counter updates or accepting some games, won't work properly or at all. Not sure about cores in Retroach and others like Dig. But frontends allow for standalone versions of emulators to be used. And these emulators will still be downloadable somewhere or other as well, in apk files for Android Thankfully Drastic is extremely advanced, and Dolphin and even Cemu are very advanced. slotsmagic
I'm sure things will continue. I first got into emulation with the likes of ZSNES and NO$GMB back on my DX2-66 in MSDOS. I'm pretty confident that ZSNES, despite not being amazingly accurate, became the basis for many later emulators. So assuming at least one person has the source for Citra / Yuzu (neither of which I've played with - I currently use a soft modded 3DS XL and soft modded Switch) I'm sure that later versions will still exist... albeit more 'underground'. Even if not based off the same source, I'm sure someone else would work on it down the line - presumably once the hardware is closer to obsolescence. I do wonder if the visibility of emulation is a major part of the problem these days. Back in the old days, emulation was a niche thing. You had to know about it. These days it's much more public. pbb
The FME scene used to have a 3 year rule where we couldn't emulate new machines, well Yuzu were giving patches to the new Zelda game 2 weeks before official release cos it was leaked, BUT that was behind a paywall, (Patreon) then Super Mario Wonder was leaked, cant blame them TBH

Altharic
FME has never had a 3 year rule it was suggested and some members took it as fact copyright is copyright I mean if there was a 3 year rule what would stop me downloading all of Elvis' albums from a dump site and if his record company come after me I would be able to say 'but under the 3 year rule'...... judge would piss himself same applies here. Emulation is not illegal but 'cracking' games before release is and thats the issue here Nintendo are cunts of the first order when it comes to their IP they would sue you for hosting a 30 year old rom I really don't know why folks don't just boycott. johnparker007
Never forget: A developer was working on a C64 port of Super Mario Bros for seven years, and Nintendo took it down in four days. https://www.technadu.com/nintendo-take-down-commodore-64-port-super-mario-bros/65550/ They really are a pain with this stuff! thealteredemu
I’m not sure why they couldn’t fully endorse that c64 port, it’s an excellent port and you can tell the love put into it!! I get the hacking and leaking of current stuff though. I guess there policy is just kill any unauthorised Nintendo related releases. J

I mean that 7 years would've just been chipping away here and there, but I'm sure it still was a ton of work! And then Nintendo turn up 4 days after he released it and started spaffing DMCAs all over the place... I couldn't see any other videogame company pulling that shit about a port for an ancient computer, Nintendo are just crazy. slotsmagic
It does make me laugh that the usual Chinese sites are absolutely full of pirate multi-game carts, ROMhacks, knock-off Nintendo consoles and Nintendo merch... presumably they can't do anything about China. But they will kill off a passion project for an incredibly niche audience at lightning speed! Having said that at least the person behind the C64 port achieved something, even if it can't be shared with the public. Edited March 7, 2024 by slotsmagic Happy non-gambler since 1st January 2025! wearecity
App producers panicking and can't really blame them. But these things are still on the Internet and millions of computers/phones etc. As I said NDS emulation is extremely advanced with what's already out there and Wii, Gamecube also. Even Wii U is very good also. Most emulators for systems pre these are extremely advanced and/or highly unlikely to be affected. XBOX systems and Vita being exceptions. Its definitely changed emulation though, but hopefully will also give a better insight into what is acceptable by law and what isn't. Yuzu in particular pushed it too far IMO and Citra is a victim because of it.
