Streak777 Posted January 20, 2023 Report Share Posted January 20, 2023 OMG so I have just having a bash on the £5 Jackpoteers emulator when I realised it contains the POT sound effect (sample 132) from Rainbow riches. It got me thinking how many sound bites in the newer machines today were ripped from old machines from the day ? you would have thought that they would have come up with new sounds but then again the classic effects are actually the best anyway. There's quite a few occasions of machine sounds appearing in different machines, by different manufacturers - presumably they were taken from a library of stock sounds. A bit off topic, but I often get a jolt when I noticed old sound effects from games, films e.t.c. being used in adverts, TV shows, e.t.c. It's like the sounds are buried deep in my brain and hearing them reawakens something I've heard the Doom door-opening sound effect used in an advert recently, and a Wilhelm scream used in an advert in the past few weeks.
