Betcom Machine

So... the Chase (the one with £100 JP symbols) had a manipulatable flaw in the program.....

Was this also one of the reasons for Betcoms final demise? Like may other manufacturers before them they failed to release something completely player proof?

This isnt bullshit BTW - i made excellent money for a decent length of time on one of these.

Hey Mikey.

Betcom closing its doors was a decision made by Gauselmann after 6 months of having everyone on furlough, since the original lockdown in March, with no apparent signs of life returning to normal, everyone was made redundant with analogue production no longer part of their roadmap, as all focus shifted to digital.

Just prior to the lock down, both Chase and the Vault were released on test, and the first 3 weeks of CLMS data (the performance tracking system used) were absolutely killing it and were top of the tables each and every week. The newer games were designed with the player in mind, by a player, rather than a standard Betcom force. The figures were definitely showing positive signs.

In a nutshell, elements of the later chase were influenced by an earlier Bellfruit DOND, The Perfect Deal.

The Bankers Vault was a  slightly softer profile approach to Powerplay/Power-Up.

Neither of these final two units went into full production due to the closure and never really got the full blown test it deserved due to all the pubs (test sites) closing. All that remain today are some of the original test units, which are dotted about and then move about every few months between operators.

The standard Betcom clone after clone of the same profile was getting very very stale. It was agreed that a change in direction/game design/profile was part of the 2021-22 roadmap. But it was Covid that had the final say, whether you liked the games or not, it was a bit shit to say the least.

👍

@Wildmanslots

Many thanks for that long and detailed explanation.

Yes - in my experience, the latest Chase (with a 100JP win symbol) was a huge huge improvement on standard Betcom fodder. Much more enjoyable to play - either on an out and out force - or just for fun collecting things. Many more decentish features, the third and forth levels of streak being reasonably achievable... much much fairer deal offers.... wins between £8 and £25 which would repeat...... and of course a physical deal reel so no dodgy look what you could have won!

In a way - seemed to play like a number of Reflexes which are fair and fun - as long as not playing out and out for a JP. Thins like Jungle Bucks, Drac pack (i think thats the title) Valley of the Kings and a few others.

I really liked this machine - shame this was thier last hurrah - cos they may have managed a huge improvement.

That one (the chase is on) did actually pass test (get approval) so there's lots of them about - having said that it does seem rarer than the other approved ones.

If the AWP JP is ever increased from £100 that would mean the only reel bases that would survive, if any, would be reflex.

Drac pack - do you mean drac in the box ?

He'll get back when he's ready, no rush.

My Betcom branded, Blueprint stickered, T7 rebuild is dated Feb '20 from memory on the serial number sticker. I know at least one coder from it, would you have had a hand in any of it @Wildmanslots? It's a weird one. It's got Luck of the Irish, Bar X, Lucky Dragons, Tic Tac Toe Hi Roller and a couple of others on.

The same machines are in Merkur at the mo, on 20p/£10, as teeny little space filler machines :)

Actually looks quite interesting. The old 'Banker's Seal' making a return. The fact that it actually has JP symbols and not just a £25 top win from reel wins.

All academic now obviously. But looks more my kind of machine than the standard old Betcom formula.

So... the Chase is on... the one i refer to earlier... also has JP symbols (and will give the £100 on the reels if forced)...... And - as @Wildmanslots allludes to... is a MUCH better game experience than the standard BETCOM fodder.

From catching up on this thread it appears Betcom clearly had plenty of ideas on the go and were definitely making efforts to refresh the gameplay, it would be great to try some of these newer machines in one form or another.

Yea them  gsquared and blueprint had ideas  they even did a machine based on Donald Trump
