MAME Changes that relate to FME

Looks legit to me, running in a Window with this title bar:

and a custom 'button hover' mouse pointer graphic (not Mfme/Oasis/Mame):

Also posted a Cobra 3 emulation running:

Best guess is they have taken emulation code from Mame and developed it further in their own codebase - essentially taking the approach Chris took with Mfme.

Had literally come back from self imposed exile to post precisely that vid, and it's already up here, nice.

No idea who the coder is, but the whole setup interests me.

In answer to a post a while back, AGEMAME had to merge, because I lacked the time and resource to maintain it individually, and given that it did the job of convincing the then maintainer of MAME it was worthwhile, mission accomplished.

I do appreciate getting PRs in nowadays is like that gag about Ian Paisley seeing St Peter, but if I can help, give me a nudge - I'm not around here much but John Parker and Shiny (remember him) know how to get my attention over stuff.

I think it was a good call getting AGEMAME into MAME, to let others continue the work :)  Though yeah the MAME PR process is pretty much like developer deterrent!

I started on a few MAME fixes before Chrimbo, just leaving them in my own fork for now (https://github.com/johnparker007/mame/commits/master/?author=johnparker007), and will deal with that whole PR mess later, when I've done all the low hanging fruit (no pun intended!) I can spot (I had another Maygay fix in progress for another sound chip)...

I've watched the vid again (enlarged so I can read the alpha) and further to my previous comment I notice its only running in DEMO so I think there's more work needed.

For instance the notey isn't lit so I assume the communication with the notey, coin mech, etc has issues which surely is a big part of the SC6 encryption.

Could it be either Dialtone, Re-Animator or Guitar?  They are the only coders I know who would spend time on Fruit Machines.  The Video at first I thought was fake but looking at it again I'm pretty sure its genuine.  However it's one thing converting a SC5 layout to a SC6, what about Dev tools etc..

I feel that if a full blown emulator release is forthcoming It'll be a long way off, but I'd love to see it.

Sadly, I don't think Re-Animator is with us any more. I asked around in the Dutch scene recently, as I had not heard from him for some years. Great guy, very much enjoyed working with him on CCnR development :(

Scorp4 started life on door open mode, well some layouts did, as did the £100 machine roms so there is hope, just a case of shuttiing the door as for notey this wouldn’t work in open door mode/demo

That's my point - why wouldn't they show it running in normal play mode unless there were issues. We will see I guess anyway.

Maybe thats all the emulation does at the present time subject to him perfecting it reminds me of the phrase 'this is why we can't have nice things' :(

Demo mode was always better than No mode at least we had a chance to play unemulated machines at the time, I made several “door open” machines in mfme10.1

even notey acceptors weren’t emued until mfme 5 yet we had loads of machines with noteys on them so just used coins

as for sc6 it may even use a different notey to what is available emulation wise

It's in

bfm/bfcobra.cpp: Load Inquizitor attract mode ROM, and added alternate versions as clones. (#13196)

New clones marked not working

----------------------------

Inquizitor (V1.2, alt)

Inquizitor (V1.1)

I just checked that, no actual emulation code changed really, just adding more game ROMs to the MAME BFM Cobra driver.  I tried a couple of others that were already there on a oldish MAME install, and they worked perfectly (gfx and sound), so MAME has a fairly functional BFM Cobra driver already :)

Who signed Peter Reid?  At a guess without cheating Howard Kendall @ Everton?

RE sc6, emu, well it would keep us going with more layouts!!!

RE Fruitsnapps vid, I think that looks like an emulator, but it's an in-house dev kit?  Bit like the one that's about for Pluto/Heber?
