Mfme keyboards v1 and v2

So I decided to build an mfme keyboard. V1 i made out of wood and used a zero delay usb encoder and buttons i had left over from my virtual pinball build.

V1 is the version with the blue buttons on.

This worked great but i wanted a more authentic keyboard.

So i made V2, massive thanks to @Regfor your guide. Without that i wouldn't have had a clue what to do.

V2 has ipac2 and pacdrive, and uses proper fruit machine buttons i got from ebay. I swapped the lamps for 5v leds instaed of 12v normal lamps. I dont have the decals so i printer some crappy ones ie the collect and exchange buttons.

Setting it all up didnt take long, but each machine will need to load a template and config it.

i am super happy with the result.

I Still have V1 the wooden box version but i think ill sell it or break it down as i dont need it anymore.

Looking good :)

I suspect these aren't cheap, but one day I think these OLED push buttons would be great for a fruit machine cabinet if they are cheap enough in the future.  So it would show the actual button decals for the machine currently being played (and black when not needed for current machine)...

I don't know fella.  I don't have a touchscreen windows machine.  I do have a letterbox type touchscreen that I sometimes use for mfme, just all the button on this 9" wide screen, it's very handy.  Not sure why people don't build cabs with them to be honest.  Though, I do like the tactileness of pressing buttons.

It’s a physical button for me every time, that’s a integral part of the experience, a touchpad just pushes it over the boundaries to being a virtual over a machine in my mind

I have played quite few casino slots with the option to use touch screen stake/start buttons, or a physical button. Repeatedly pressing a piece of glass is a bad experience, but OK for making selections. I think having a touch screen for a top glass is perfect for MFME but definitely a bad idea to use for start and hold buttons.

Treat every day like your last, because one day it will be!

I totally agree, that physical press just feels right!!   I’m more bothered with the aesthetics though, I only really play my own layouts so I just have them setup this way, but mine is purely very light use.   I’d definitely built one though with those oled buttons that would be a bit of a game changer, even looking like the actual buttons!!

£79.99 for 1, but cheaper in bulk... found them here... but omg, if these actually press like a button, and have a display for each button decal, wow - what an amazing fruit machine cabinet could be made... MFME clearly would'nt be able to make said buttons work so a new fruit machine emulator would be needed... imagine tho! - WOW! 😍

At some point this is a plan for an Arcade Sim 'cabinet mode' feature... as I'm already rendering them in 3d, I can map that to say an upper and lower monitor or whatever, so it would mean no need to manually edit layouts to make them 'cabinet friendly' etc.  I'm sure it could drive out images to buttons... though I've millions of things to do before that would be a priority unfortunately.  But it's all possible :)

It's a shame it's so expensive to get a touchscreen 42" TV... that is something that would be good to help with the experience... small touchscreen monitors aren't too bad but large ones seem to be uncommon and expensive.
