Ticket machines like dracula

We had some in the arcade years ago (like 15 years or so), they tended to be MPU4 or MPU5 based back then - but times will have moved on.

I'll see if I can find any ROMs but I wouldn't get your hopes up - the ticket payout is really very similar to a coin payout in terms of how it works (using an optical sensor to count tickets being paid out, the same as coins pass through an optical sensor on the way out of a hopper) - but not identical, there will be different timings and things at play, so it may just give a payout error.

@infection wants to run a ticket scam and finally get his hands on that  scooby-doo pencil case hahahaha sorry couldn't resist

Probably about 5000 tickets at today's rates!

I'm actually intrigued by this how. I don't think I've ever had a ticket (fruit) machine jackpot. I know when I buggered off recently for some fresh air I saw some weird ticket machines in the arcades - one of them had a ticket Kerching! (JPM), Poundstretcher (Concept / Electrocoin) and Adders and Ladders (Empire) - so it's possible there's quite a range of hardware that these machines run on.

Still not convinced they would run in MFME (I'd assume a payout error), but I'd definitely like to see some running so if any ROMs do turn up and nobody else is interested I'd love to try them.

I used to work for UDC who distributed these types of machines from Dave Ellis`s company. its a standard fruit machine with a top box just like a golden game. i couldnt comment on the ticket emulation though.

We have numerous Ticket payout machines from Dave Ellis`s Eurotek they mainly work of pluto 6 boards which use compact flash cards. where I used to work had a adders and ladders rio cabinet which ran on mpu5 and if I remember correctly concept games did kits for scorpion4 genesis cabinets 2p play called tickety boo they also did some for the electrocoin casino cabinets like pound stretcher, don`t think these would work as they supplied a small board with a cr2032 battery in and a dongle with the tickety boo kit.

Lol 5000 tickets

more like 10000 🤣. There`s a lot of places going down the ticket route more so than cat d since the bacta guidence of under 18s must be with an adult to play them even though this is not law yet. Some places have even put the cat d machines in over 18`s area`s.

Ticket machines (especially the fruit machines) are bonkers. Probably different now but I think our tickets came in books of 1000, could have been 500 even. You could get called over, put a book in, a few minutes later it'll pay a jackpot - stick another book in. Few minutes later all the tickets get fed into a ticket eater and shredded?! Can see the new single, coded ticket payout (or ticket balance being transferred onto smart card) being a decent system, but given cost of installation it'll probably result in the price of prizes going up (or quality going down, if that's even possible!).

I think fruit machines should be adults anyway, why let children gamble?

I'm inclined to agree, but then I'm sure many of us have had gambling problems in the past (I know I have!!!). Where would you draw the line? I love the old 2p Roll A Win (playing, not maintaining the damn things), but the ticket fruits, especially multiplayer with high jackpots, are a different matter.

I'm assuming they are a pretty volatile proposal (they must be to pay the top prizes) and won't offer good value for money and might (in the case of people like myself with a self-destructive gambling habit) result in unhealthy gambling habits.

Bizarrely enough... there are even professional ticket machine players!

Has anyone seen the one where you have to drop 6 balls into the exact right 6 slots on a rotating wheel with about 50 slots, to win a jackpot usually in excess of 10000 tickets?

There is 4 in a row in one of the Blackpool piers, we watched a youngish couple take all 4 jackpots in under 15 mins.  Cost them at most £20...... and 50k of tickets does give some decent prizes.....

Lots of the non-fruit machine type games are skill games and decent players always have a decent chance at the JP. (of course, they won't pay out multiple JP's close together - they become non skill for a while)

thats why the money part was removed, but get this -

machines are usually set on 72% for a ticket payout `fruit machine` and skill games such as pop it and win etc can be 30% upwards. if thats not enough, the prizes are heavily marked up. for example a chppa chump lolly which arguably retails for 20p is sold for 100 x 1p tickets.

true story - not a million miles from cromer, a boy came in every day and spent £250 which his grandmother gave him EVERY DAY. after £12,500 they were so relieved he had enough tickets to buy the mini motor bike that only cost them ..............£700.

These machines remind me of Prize Bingo, when people say, I won some great prizes from Bingo over the years, but forget how much they paid for the bingo.

I remember at Butlins, some people would spend most of their holiday, playing Prize Bingo, in the arcades. Mind you of course I can't talk, I used to do the same on the fruitys lol.
