Bad dudes vs dragon ninja

 gauntlet

Potentially bad dudes, it's jump and fire, but is there not much jumping?  Have to consider keyboard accessibility initially... Gauntlet is a yes :)

Most of my old favourites have been mentioned already but how about Centipede, Time Pilot &  Bishi Bashi?

Centipede I think was trackball, so will need me to implement mouse trackball, time pilot is a yes, will check bishi as am on train at the mo.

How about rise of the robots by bellfruit 😉

Not sure of buttons for that, will it be keyboard player friendly..? Potentially :)

Hey just seen this, you have New Rally X, but please also consider the original.

Beyond that, Indiana Jones please and Moon Patrol would be really appricahted.

OK original Rally X, Indy sounds good for keyboard play as does moon patrol if I remember correctly :)

moonwalker.. for the kids like

To be fair I don't know if all 'that' turned out to be gold diggers... I think it might be a good one for keyboard controls :)

That is very very similar, but the one I'm on about was just green wire frame graphics (no colour) and a lot slower.  This one goes like a bat out of hell and I'd stand no chance lol

The one I played came out around 1979-ish

[EDIT]

Having looked at a few Youtube vids I think you might be right about Star Castle, although the one I recall must have been a very early version.  The gameplay is pretty much how I remember it.

Thanks very much :)

The "colours" in this game where an overlay stuck to the screen, the actual machine was monochrome wireframe graphics (white or green dependent on the monitor used)...  it came out around 1980....  pretty sure the speed could have been altered with a dip switch or hack

Thanks, that explains it then :)

Thanks everyone, these are some great game suggestions!

Initially it'll be ones that translate well to QAOP style keyboard control, more options to follow later as I get time to implement (mouse steering wheel, mouse lightgun, windows game controllers etc).

A lot of great keyboard playable games, keep em coming! :)

Track And Field.

You say MAME2003, so 0.63 to 0.78ish?

Thanks!!!

Most of those sound great for initial keyboard controls :) (Rygar is jump/fire heavy so may hold that one until we have arcade stick/gamepad support)

Off the top of my head I think it's MAME v0.78 - the hope is that I can later figure out the ROM loading stuff to get the latest MAME running, for more video games and more accurate video game emulation (this will also be helpful for efficient MAME-based FME support).

Incidentally, there will be no need for end users to deal with finding ROMs etc, it will all be automated like the fruit machines are now - very initially the ROMs will be packaged and DL'd from DIF, but a medium to high priority task is to automate searching/downloading them from the internet (for legal reasons).  So then me and @Reg will not be distributing any copyrighted video game ROMs... Should gave minimal impact from UX, maybe a tad slower the very first time a video game is required from the AS library, but most of those classic ROMs are tiny. So should be a roughly zero impact change.

A bunch of work ahead before it's all actually working in Arcade Sim, but  I'm super looking forward to seeing playable video games alongside the fruities! :)
