Hi,
I wondered if Bell Fruit Belgian Dice Spinner/Slots style games have been dumped and emulated at all ?
I think they were probably Adder5 ?
I’ve not been able to find anything, not even roms so I guess not? -
I stumbled upon this thread a while ago and as there hadn't been an update I thought I'd have a play.
Two versions, the first knocked up on a bit of old prototype board, the second buying the driver chips on a board already and just soldering the boards together.
Did a bit of simple Arduino programming and I've a fully working pacdrive look-a-like
Protoype board
You could buy the driver chips already on a board and solder the boards together...
Running the official Ultimarc test software...
Cost of parts from Aliexpress including delivery....less than £5 per board !
This is only a pacdrive look-a-like but you could do an i-pac for similar cost but it'd be a bit more difficult as there are only 18 inputs on the board so you'd have to add a couple of chips to get more for all the buttons.

Thanks for the replies, I actually emailed Ultimarc last night and they replied this morning so even though the website is a bit poor I can't fault the response time.

In what way is it rubbish ? Any photos ? Unless the TV is processing the input it should look the same as a 4K pc monitor.
What's the actual resolution of the TV, is it true 4K - 4096 * 2160 ?
Or is it the fact that the original layout resolution is too low to be shown that large ?
-
Following this with interest. I like how incredibly neat and tidy it is.
In your first post you mentioned the pacdrive special is available with id1 or id2, can you tell me where you get them from ? The Ultimarc website only shows the id1 special.

Is there any fruit machine technology with sufficient games on it to make it worth the effort in trying to emulate ? Other than Scorp6 of course.

Both P5 and P6 are still in use today for new machines so there are some security and legal considerations here.
I didn’t realise old tech was still in use. What about BFG stuff such as Scorpion 6?
Doesn’t MAME take the approach that games over 3 years old are a fair target but stay away from anything newer?
-
Are there enough mpu6 mechanical machines to warrant the time and effort it'd take to emulate it ?
Are there many update files available and any info/schematics for the board itself ?

That's looking better, still a couple of issues but almost there.
Where are the faults ?, I can't see/hear them

There is a faint connection between the later Scorpion boards and Cobra 3, like pretty much every British manufacturer at that point they're all using some form of the Cold fire CPU, and making something very close to Pluto. It's why Betcoms got so weird, the hardware got close enough that with tiny adjustments you could run games built for one tech on another.
Betcom really where the tarts of the industry, didn't matter what the tech was they'd always put something in it.
They realised quite early on the benefits of a good HAL. Didn't some of the software guys become INNOV8 or is that wrong ?

Sorry, I don't have a scan of manual and I don't have a scanner.
TBH, the manual is pretty bad, just a bit of text but little info of any use. It doesn't even mention of the dot matrix display.
I'll get it scanned if I can find someone with a scanner

I was going to say, I've been playing this is mame for years. It's mame compiled with only the bfm video driver in it.
Good little find though.
Where are you getting your version of mame from which supports cobra3 ? Can you post it ?
The official mame does not support cobra3, the driver is just a very bare skeleton

Just been told the software on archive.org has been changed for a new version. I'm not home so can't try it

Compression was just mpeg1 at CD data rates.
i've a small collection of Video CDs, anyone remember those ?, and the quality is dreadful

Is this a new emulator? Is Cobra 3 not an mfme emulated tech?
J
AFAIK this is the only emulator supporting cobra3, it's not emulated in mfme or mame.
There was a video released on youtube showing this at the start of the year but all went quiet after that until now.

Silly question from me, if you can access it with VPN on what is the issue, and using VPN nowadays is a good thing ?
I don't normally use a vpn so ended up having to download opera as a quick fix.
After trying various browsers on different devices and operating systems including my phone it looks like it's an isp issue. Trying to view on my phone over wifi fails too but switch to 5G network all works fine. Looks like something odd with virgin media as my neighbour as the same issue, very odd.
Anyway, the important bit is the emulator works so that's something new to play with

Hi Dec1962
I have no problems going to the site when clicking on the above link.
What browser are you using. I am using opera.
I’ve tried chrome and firefox and neither can connect to the site.
Opera also fails unless I turn its vpn on

Don't know if anyone has seen this on archive.org ?
https://archive.org/details/@itmightbeme
For some reason I can't access archive.org without using a vpn

Thanks for your reply and links. I’ll take a look at the code this evening

Can I ask how you get the information from MAME for you to be able to do the rendering? I assume there’s a way of getting info such as whether a lamp is on or off and if it’s on what brightness it is. I didn’t know this was possible with MAME.
thanks

Sadly I see this all too often if it doesn't meet the interest of those that have open access to pulls they just get left there shame as i would love to see this in mame more to see how fast it would run
Pluto uses the same cpu as Scorpion 5 - 5206e, so it should run full speed

Brain Box has been merged so will be in next months release.
The Pluto submission doesn't seem to be going anywhere for some reason

BFG Belgian Dice Spinner/Slots style games
in Emulator Chat
Posted
I managed to find Skill Dice which is Adder 4 but that's all
The problem with Adder5 is you can read the sound roms but you need the update files for the game as the flash memory can't be read without making an adapter
BFM/BFG made loads of this type of game for Belgium, hopefully they'll turn up at some point in the future.
