  1. Ok, I can't see it up at fruit-emu.com.
  2. This version converts (Layout attached under picture) no disrespect to the original author, but it's no picasso of a layout lol. It's playing and paying in MFME, but even after converting, it requires a lot of work to be even near presentable and I don't think I'm that skilled to bring it to that standard, particularly the centre board. col_cash.zip
  3. I hope this is ok to post here, because 3 attempts at fruit-emu to post it and although it sometimes shows, it just keeps disappearing. I've had enough of dicking around. If not ok, I won't take offence at it's removal and won't post similar again. Anyway it's a JPEMU conversion of Pinball Wizard 1280 dx which was made by Pook, currently for MFME we have no larger layout than 1024, so thought it worth doing. pinballwizardwdx3.zip
  4. Thanks guys. Although I suspect it will be pretty much the same as the BWB rebuild, I think it's probably one of the most well known MPU5 machines, not to have a DX for it.
  5. Thinking about it would it be possible for me to replace the roms in the DX with the mpu5 roms. Then get the lamp numbers and coin inputs from the mpu5 classic layout and replace the lamp numbers and inputs on this DX with them. Possible?
  6. We have a BWB MPU4 rebuild DX of this, albeit, using the Barcrest MPU5 machines imagery? We have a Barcrest MPU5 classic of this In the words of Precious from Come Fly with Me "But we have no Barcrest MPU5 DX for this". Artwork looks decent enough. Just saying
  7. Hey, welcome drpepper, welcome back. Your name is very well remembered from Fruit Forums days. That forum still exists, but pretty much is dormant, if you fancy a trip down nostalgia lane http://www.fruitforums.co.uk/vb/index.php Basically after the leak of v9.4 and 10.1 back in 2006, we had a few years of scorpion 4 and mpu5 releases, but after a couple of years, the scene become more fragmented and eventually production of layouts, virtually run to extremely few and far between. There was no public emulator progress after v10.1 was leaked. Then in September 2016, Wizard posted on The Mecca (I see you are a member https://www.fruitemu.co.uk/ib/index.php?/user/427-drpepper/ ) a thread about a possible release. https://www.fruitemu.co.uk/ib/index.php?/topic/17887-gauging-opinion-on-a-new-mfme-release/ Naturally there was a real buzz for it and many old time faces suddenly posted and MFME v5.0 was released Halloween 2016. It's been non stop since, V5.1, v5.2 and now v6.0 is pretty much all you need to play everything from Electromechanical machines to machines released around 2013/2014. If you haven't found it yet, if you click on portal at the top of this page, you'll see a list of the other fme sites listed and click on them to visit them.

    EastEnders - Queen Vic

We could really do with a decent quality DX of this machine.
  9. What I'm really liking is we don't normally see a WIP thread for a dxcellent forthcoming release. So it's good to see some insights such as artwork not that great, got glass scans, need to swap buttons etc....
  10. Same as me, hated art. I finally got around to using the editing tools and created my first ever layout some mere 17 years after I first used the emulator. Again, that man again Reg, his guide here is really worth a read and having a go at creating the layout in the guide. Doing that you'll discover the basics, that can lead to discovering how to do other things in existing layouts. Your new so just enjoy discovering everything and worry about updates later.
  11. There are ways to lighten up layouts. Reg has posted a few times about it. I managed to lighten up a layout following his advice. Of course again it could be down to the flyer/pictures not being that great, so the darkness hides the poorer areas. Could also be down to monitor settings and different monitors a lot were made when we had a mixture of crt and lcd screens amongst users. Or in some cases it's choice, just to set the mood of playing it in a dark arcade. There are hundreds of layouts that could now be improved on, but many people have left FME and it's difficult to find people happy to spend time on old layouts. Over time, I've found how to do different things by fiddling around in edit mode and following advice and have altered some layouts here and there, with updated alphas, reels, lamps etc. For instance all 1100+ layouts I have, have updated alphas and have click/touchable buttons and coin mechs that can be clicked or touched to enter coins.
  12. Yes, could be time consuming and that is assuming the original resources are available. Also the resources need to be of a high quality to sustain a decent looking DX of anything above 1280 in particular. Have you tried full screen max mode, after opening a layout press f3. Also you can, right click on any part of a layout and zoom in and out with the mouse wheel. Also you can click buttons while in magnify mode. Just make sure under file/preferences, the magnify option is checked.
  13. I generally prefer to play in F3 borderless mode. If I had to choose then I would go for short term to easily see how much I had won/loss in that session, which is what I would be interested in this time. At the end then I'd press f12 and switch between the two. And don't forget F11 to go between profit/loss and drift.
  14. Thanks for this, saw it mentioned in the changes, but couldn't see how to get it to work, just kept on getting the windows dong error, everytime I pushed Alt-P lol.
  15. Looks great, shame the layout to show it off, isn't a super hi-res razor sharp DX.

    Retropie

It's the interaction with rocklaucher that can be a pain as well. Rocklaucher has so many options and I made the mistake of updating mine, so a few things are broken now. Sometimes it's easier just to go through Hyperspin to watch videos of different games and then when you see something you fancy playing, load them through the emulators direct. Hyperspin is quite old now but I see that it's going to get hopefully an overhaul. Launchbox is a neat front end also.

Who knows someone, one day, someone may get to appear in Retro Gamer Mag as well. I've got a hyperspin set up, which is fantastic to go through and look at. I bought a 6tb one, because, well because I could afford to and wouldn't have the patience to set everything up. But having a smaller install with just the systems you're interested in could be very rewarding, if you've got the patience to set everything up from scratch.
  18. Thanks. It's given me a very small idea of what goes into even creating a classic hi-tech layout. Even the amount of lamps surprised me and this is small fry compared to even some other lo-techs and halfway through naming the lamps, I was flagging a bit, thinking this is really tedious. My big problem is in life I absolutely hate doing tasks that repeat, so things like data input and filing I would find mind numbing. Having the picture of the machine helped, to know what all the not so obvious lamp names meant. At the end I realised, that some lamps, aren't required on a classic, because things like Bell-Fruit contain several lamps and I don't like split lamps anyway, spoils a good attract sequence. Overall I was pleased I completed it and learnt a few bits on the way. I've attached, what I probably would consider a completed version. Lots more to learn though, to make one from scratch and having to source pictures and reel symbols etc....I did feel a bit of a cheat in that there was a DX layout already and therefore the reel bands were complete and easy to just drop in and I also cut some of the symbols from the original as well to use them. 19. Ok, it's rubbish and I could make it better and will use it to experiment with the emulator settings, but for now, I just want to show what anyone can achieve by simply following the layout guide. MFMEGUIDE B7'S.zip
  20. I mean a Phoenix tech machine.
  21. How about another electrocoin hi tech next Reggie.
  22. It is good to have it organised. It helped that from the very early days, I sorted things into folders. The first emulator just did MPU3/4 machines, so that was easy to do. Then when M1a/b support came, I simply created a M1a/b folder and put releases on that tech in it. Then obviously as new techs were added, I just did the same. However, I never had the game manager set up, at all, at first I loaded it, it was a complete mess, because people name machines blah, blah, 90% 25p £15 dx res for instance. My way of getting to a machine at a minimum, file, load game, browse to tech folder such as spACE, then into the machine folder, then finally click on the game name. Now I can scroll through and see at a glance what machine I fancy playing.
  23. It a rewarding experience, once you get going. I never used it really before V5, but now my MFME, opens up in the game manager. Once you get into it, you'll find it is a never ending project, because there is so much to add and when new layouts are released, you'll be looking around for flyers and pictures, to have the ultimate game manager. Give it a go, but if you've hundreds of layouts, be aware, it will seem like a chore first. With the game manager able to filter, it doesn't matter, certainly at first, if you have every machine in one big folder, named mfme machines or whatever. You just point the game manager at that folder and it will find all machines. I'd suggest starting slowly with a tech that doesn't have many machines released for it. Filter it to just show that techs machines, then set about, loading them, renaming them and while you're at it, pressing f3 when loaded and f8 to take a screenshot. It will then give you an idea of how, once you've done every single machine what it can look like at the most basic level. Then you set about adding extra stuff, like flyers, pictures of real machines. Below is my WIP game manager, the other two pictures, are how I have the machines, stored in tech folders and each machine in its own folder, but that's a nice to have, but isn't necessary for the game manager to function or for you to set up your game manager, like mine in the first picture.
  24. I expect to get a second wind, but the basics are now done and want to get some layouts working properly. I notice you're a bit lazy in the add/edit notes section. You put BFM, S5, Multi, I put Bell Fruit Games, Scorpion 5 and 25p/50p/£1.
