  1. Have you metered the power supply to see if it is actually delivering 24v ? For ease of testing, test with another mfme layout. A more modern one that only uses a £1 hopper. (Such as any £35 jackpot machine) and ditch the triac option for hopper. Then test. Its pointing towards faulty hopper or psu so using a simpler layout for testing will help hone in on the problem

    Hey all.

Ok cashflow has arrived and I have the wiring diagram thanks to No1Stoney. Just want to check it wires into the blue circle area? My next question is how do I wire it so that £1's come one way and all other coins go another way?

    20220118_160847.jpg

Yes the area circled is where you put the wires in the diagram.

As for the coin routing you will need to create a routing plug. If you do a Google search for the manual for that coin mech you will find a pdf version. Check the manual for 'routing' and use that to figure how to wire your routing plug (it goes in the left hand slot in the middle) if your only routing 1 coin type into a specific exit then its really simple. Any more than 1 coin into a specific exit will require to use diodes in the wiring so its probably better to leave default for 5p/20p/50p/£2 and only define where the 10p and the £1 goes.

    Hope that makes sense

  3. The wiring seems correct so double check all the connections first and make sure the transformer is definitely working.  Im not home at the minute so can't double check, but in mfme, try changing triac to other triac numbers. Finding out which triac the machine fires from can be long winded as involves looking through theel diag window and collecting wins to see which triac fires up. Annoyingly machines use different triac numbers. As @Reg has already said, you wouldn't notice anything from the hopper until its due to pay something. dont worry about ipac config for now as you can look at that after getting the hopper firing up..  all I can think of right now... failing that, load up a modern single hopper machine on MFME, change your hopper config to 'hopper 1' instead of triac and test hopper on that machine.

@cja272 Worth calling out I think that mine did not work correctly with 12v.  You might be unluckly and have to introduce a 24v PSU - but I am probabaly the exception here as more have worked at 12v then have not.

The important thing is - if it's not playing ball as you'd expect - just be aware that mine experience was also the same.  It is documented elsewhere and is an easy fix if you encounter this.

    Don't just go thinking something's broken when it's not ! :)

Ah yes, I do remember yours not working on 12v. Not sure why exactly. I have 4, all different from one another (one says 12v & 24v the others only say 24v) but they all drive from 12v. So yes, @cja272you MAY need a 24v supply if your 12v fails to drive it.

Thanks I have a power supply which 12v so that is sorted too now 😀

So what do you use to connect the wires to the coin mech please is there some sort of special connector that will fit ????

Look for dupont kits/wires on ebay. They are quite useful for connecting wires to the pins on the coin mech and the hopper

The 24v azkoyen will still work on 12v albeit marginly slower spin speed. Both mine are running 12v and honestly you can't tell at all

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/620pcs-Dupont-Wire-Pin-Header-Connector-Housing-Kit-M-F-Crimp-Pins-/223621932363?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0 the 5x2 connector in this set is perfect for the hopper too. Probably able to find the connector separately though.

Thanks for this guys. Really helps.

I am lucky enough to get hold of a 46 inch led screen panel so that should look pretty good.

The hopper from Germany has huge postage cost which is a bumber. I will get one of those connector packs when I order the hopper. Is there a wiring diagram for the coin mech anywhere? At least these arnt that expensive atm!

Yes, but combined still about £20 cheaper than the £60+ ones you mentioned.

Coin mech wiring (this is based on a PC providing the 12v source, but you can use any 12v source)

Azkoyen hopper (excuse the sloppy diagram, it was mocked up in a few minutes, but hopefully you can understand it)

  8. If you're happy to wait, there is one here slightly cheaper from germany https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/193733260004?hash=item2d1b66f2e4:g:JwoAAOSwkHJfnxCd
Its a shame they are so expensive at the minute, I found mine around £15 each 2nd hand from ebay. Seems there aren't many parallel ones available.

As for wiring. use whatever wires you want, but these are good kits to have: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/303426594516?hash=item46a5a266d4:g:JBcAAOSwcrJeCu8Z
You can use one of the 5x2 black connectors as these fit perfectly into the azkoyen hopper, then just add your wires yourself.
    VCC (x3) - 12v power source
    GND (x) - 0v
Control - Pacdrive output 15 & 16 (or just 16 if you only use 1 hopper)
Coin - Ipac (any output but set to '[' & ']' or '[' if only using 1 hopper)

    Hope that makes sense

I don't ever remember seeing an Elegance cab with a note acceptor fitted, so it might be impossible in any case.

That said, the manual for Duff Beer Guide does mention Note Acceptors, so they must have been planned at some point. Is the round panel where the Global Games sticker sits removable? If not, I can't see any other obvious place an acceptor could be housed.

Yes that is where the note acceptor goes on these cabs. I doubt the hardware or wiring in these would allow for a modern notey anyway

Hey all. Ok I have now ordered buttons, switches, led's, pacdrive, i-pac and cables.

My next thing is getting the cashflow 126 dfx and the azkoyen parallel hopper.

Is this the only hopper that you guys recommend?

Also can it be any parallel hopper or does it need to be the azkoyen parallel hopper?

the azkoyen parallel hoppers are a good choice because they are pretty much plug and play with MFME and no additional relays etc required once its wired up to your pacdrive/ipac. They also work with virtually every type of coin without modification

as @Amusementshas already mentioned, you can use most parallel hoppers but you may need additional relays etc to make them work.

Quick related question, but I am not sure where to post "Beginner Layout Monkey Business" questions...

I can't seem to find out how to erase a Button's Shortcut when editing/creating a Layout.  I know how to change it, and to add an alternate key, but not how to erase the one(s) that are there.  Any ideas?

If you right click inside the shortcut box, you can then click 'clear'

    11 hours ago, dnsmate said:

Secondly, how is the button and it's associated shortcut bound to a particular function such as a Reel or Feature button (I get that this question is loaded and most likely belongs in whichever forum helps teach people how to do / update layouts for existing machines.

The button is controlled from what number you put in the 'button number' box. Unfortunately button numbers are found mostly from trial and error when creating a layout so designers first need to figure out which button number corresponds to each button on a machine.

  12. Outstanding work @johnparker007 I am in awe of what you have created for us all so far. For some reason, being able to walk around an arcade and walk up to and play a machine feels so much more authentic than just loading MFME on its own and its so much more immersive. I am VERY MUCH looking forward to the multiplayer element, that has got me really excited. Loving the amazing work here.

Also I've just bought a new 165hz monitor and compared to playing on my old 60hz monitor, it is silky smooth and looks amazing

Just to add, ive not played many machines, but on the ones I played, all seemed OK and worked as intended except for 'nudge it' which errored on startup the first time, then loaded fine the 2nd so not really much of a bug, more like realism if you ask me.

Just a quickie, ooer, can anyone insert coins into FG Drunken Clam?  Nothing happens for me, and if you try notes, you get the "coins only" message.  Bit odd.  Thanks.

@johnparker007 keeps an updated bug fix list here:

This states it is a known issue at the moment unfortunately

  14. Assuming you have already used a solid colour on the image behind the reels to begin with....

In MFME.. Ensure the reel covers the whole area of the reel space on the image. The reel will be slightly overlapping for now, thats fine.

Right click the reel --> Properties. Click Overlay tab. Right click the chequered area, and click create overlay.

Then right click the image that appears, and click transparency --> Set from centre

    Apply

This will only work if you have used a single solid colour on the photoshopped image where the reel is to go.

For info - the two main programs the artists use in the games industry for this particular type of modelling are 3DS Max and Blender.  There are others e.g. Maya, but not used so much for this type of modelling.

Not for the faint-hearted - they both (Max / Blender) have a steep learning curve (though allow for creation of complex models, optimising etc).

3DS Max is very expensive... some people may resort to sailing the high seas to get this ;)... Blender is free, though I've not used it, I've read it's generally less intuitive than 3DS Max.

Probuilder + Unity also works fine of course, as we see from @No1Stoney's excellent change machine, really adds atmosphere to the arcade :)

You can tell probuilder is not designed for creating objects in this way. Its geared more for designing simple game levels etc. I just wanted to see if I could put some  shapes/blocks together to make some simple props for AcradeSimulator. Still took a while to get used to the included tools, and I did view a lot of Youtube videos to help along the way. I did look into the other programs you mentioned, and saw they were 1) not free, and 2) a much steeper learning curve.

I love the idea of having a catalogue of props (with many user created items) from which you can choose and placed into the arcades and am glad @johnparker007 has plans for something like this in the future.

What program do you need to make that kinda thing dude? I’m going to try and give people a laugh with the results more likely than not.. in fairness would love a try

    Unity. Then add in ProBuilder

  17. Good evening.

@johnparker007 I had a couple of hours spare tonight was thinking about how it would look great if we could add custom models to the acrades. Things such as change machines, water dispensers, plants, tea/coffee machines and the like... So, for the very first time I downloaded and fired up Unity & ProBuilder and attempted to create a 3D model of a change machine.

This is what it turned out like.

    unity_change_machine.jpg

I was wondering if this sort of thing could be imported into the program and when the app gets further developed, these type of objects could be dropped into arcades, just like machines are.

If its any help, I can send this model across to you.. Only thing is I have to work out how to export it first 😆

  18. I like the idea of the attract mode when viewing machines. Thats a nice touch. On my cab, it is only a static image and it plays a chosen sample from the machine that best represents the machines feature music. I like the please wait screen too, perhaps (although adding to the time taken to customise each machine) the please wait image could stay for as long as the machine typically takes to boot (as each machine is different)....

Except DES machines. It would look like the cab has frozen, they take far too long.
