  1. Thanks but it wasn't this. I remember they used to have them in Showboat amusements (maybe Quicksilver too) and they were in the tall cabinets that BarXs were in where the reels were high up (like the Universal cabinet). Same reel layout as Big 7 and Red Bar, 4 win pattern. I definitely remember £4.80 token jackpot, I think the wins were Blue Seven (with the word Jackpot or Super on on them), Red Sevens, Bars (I think) and Melons (possibly). I think the one in my local arcade must have been there for a long time as I started playing it in 1997 and it was there for a few years.
  2. Someone did have an earlier version of Red Bar running (probably £6/£8/£10 jackpot, can't remember) and as previously said it offers a win every game and so is not playable. There is also a version of Magic 7s that does the same thing. I believe this is a product of the security chip not being installed. There seem to be plenty of ROMs knocking about and I had done test layouts for Red Bar and Magic 7s but they are long lost, I have been meaning to recreate them at some point but haven't got round to it. My thinking was if we can get these non-running layouts on here then maybe enough people could have a play around with them that we might make some progress. There was also one of the first casino machines called Cool 7s which I thought may have no security but that was a non-runner for me. Another idea I had, there was a machine in the 1990s which was Electrocoin and had Blue Sevens as the jackpot (£4.80/£6.00) then Red Sevens and then two other symbols (bars maybe?) - which did the extra nudges and I thought might be another one that would be worth trying so we got the extra nudge experience but I can't remember what it was called and therefore haven't made any progress on those either. Can anyone add to any of this?
  3. I have had a go at getting them running too, tried everything and yes, you are right, they need the security chip. I did have an in-depth conversation with ChatGPT about it, who said if we could get a physical chip and lots of test equipment, we could do it, so I figured that it would be easier to hack the ROMs to get the protection out, but that is also out of my ability zone. My go-to layout is this one by Vectra666, which is set at 20p £10. He said at the time it was Mark 1 ROMs, but I think the reels spin too fast for a Mk1. But Mk2 apparently has the security chip, so not sure... .
  4. Thanks for this, blast from the past. I never knew about the nudge trick in the 90s so looking forward to having a look.
  5. I have a Bar X £10 that is £4k behind percentage (using Autoplay) - it makes NO difference to the game play! I'm fairly sure it will never pay it out
  6. I have been running MFME on Windows 11 for over 12 months and had no problems
  7. I have noticed before on a Double Cash layout that on a particularly RAM I had (and I would keep reverting to), that on the 4th spin it would always nudge for Bars with the Double Cash. I thought it might be a one off and never thought about it again. However, I now have a RAM for the new Twin Pot layout by DAD (thanks for that, love this era of Astra machines) that will always offer 4 nudges (next spin) and a hold on the first go. Hold reels 1 and 3 and it will nudge for the Twin Pot feature which will then go for £5 with a repeat of £3 and a further repeat of £6. Every time! It's as though it has preplanned the next 4 spins. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Maybe it is just the nature of compensated machines that something is triggered in the code and will therefore always be triggered? I've attached the GAM and RAM files if you'd like to try it for yourself. Twin Pot DX.gam Twin Pot DX.ram
  8. Following on from the comment above from Multi Retro Man I think the X on reel 3 should be a Bar?
  9. Thanks for this. I still have a grudge against the original £15 one after I lost £200 in it, losing that much in those days was unheard of!
