  1. Thought people might find this interesting. Looks like a public gallery display item only, or a VR cut-down version without the original games.... But the video alone is impressive. Maybe some inspiration for outside of the Arcade Simulator. That was some of the magic too, coming in from a drizzly or dark British Summer day/night into the lights of an 80s arcade. https://youtu.be/Q9vyZlo8wmU "Recreating British amusement arcades circa August 1989. Based on archive materials, photographs and interviews with staff from Cain’s Amusements, Herne Bay, UK. Produced to support Dr Alan Meades’ book Arcade Britannia, telling the social history of the British amusement arcade. Published October 2022 MIT Press. Built by a team of Canterbury Christ Church University students led by Dr Meades: Mike Farrant, Ben Chittenden, Sam Page, Zach Weitz, Mihails Mozajevs."
  2. Incredible! Feels very much like a 1987ish Southend arcade to me. Absolutely superb! A few things.... 1. First install, all the screens were blank and silent. Was quite eerie walking around the dormant machines. I turned the attract modes on and nothing happened. 2. Second time around, I heard the sounds as it started to install. The arcade came fully alive. 3. Same as above, screen rotation issues for all the vertical monitors. 4. Just like MAME, it's extremely easy for the user to mess up the configurations for controls. Took me quite a bit of work to get things behaving correctly. Be good to have a little help guide in the Arcade telling you what controls do what. 5. I'd prefer to play the MAME games full-screen with no curve effect personally, with a way for me to be able to tweak that game to game (like you can with Retro Arch). 6. Amazing! Thank so much for working so hard to preserve these memories so other people can visit this golden era of gaming. Superb. And you've not finished yet!
  3. That sort of option could potentially be useful accessibility wise too, e.g. for an eye-gaze user and some other accessibility devices.
  4. Nice little generic UK cab between the Asteroids and Missile Command. Something like that would be great to have for a little late 70's/early 80s section in Arcade Simulator. Looks like you've got the carpet right already. And Goliath's galore below... Well worth looking at George Wilson's collection of photos from the early to mid 80's. https://www.seasphotography.org.uk/georgewilson https://www.dropbox.com/sh/92skg4akeeezzb7/AAA8pM4A6uigVf5c_kN9nqERa?dl=0
  5. Not Cinematronic's Rip-Off? Arcade Jason might be worth asking https://www.youtube.com/c/ArcadeJason/videos. Sounds like a lost in time game, or maybe a clone/hack.
  6. Moon Cresta a great call. You'd hear that music in many arcades for a year or two. Good game too but hard. Is the game Star Castle?
  7. Ghosts and Goblins often in Goliath cabs. Great looking stupidly hard game. Hypersports often in Goliaths too. Maybe Track and Field was. Can't remember.
  8. Think all of these could be found in generic cabs and are still great games in my book I'd love to find in Arcade Simulator: Astro Fighter (1979 - Data East version) - these were everywhere in UK arcades for a while. Still a great game. Burning Rubber (1982) Commando (1985) Frogger (1981) Gyruss (1983) Lunar Rescue (1979) Moon Patrol (1982) Spiders (1980?) Space Invaders II (1979) Super Space Invaders '91
  9. I'm late to this, but the Magnifier app built into Windows works brilliantly with MFME in windowed and stretched full-screen (SHIFT+F3) mode. It follows your pointer as you move around the Fruit Machine I think up to 1600% bigger. Really helpful. Just type "Magnifier" in the Windows search bar and click on the app. A low-tech alternative would be a Fresnel lens or magnifying glass. And agree, a big monitor/HDMI TV in portrait can really help too.
Just love this game. Funny and addictive. One of MayGay's best in my book. The speech samples of EastEnders characters are brilliant. Surely all the original actors? If not, amazingly good impressions of them. Lots of great music, including Motorhead, and a nod to West End girls on the hold/cancel buttons. Top job Tommy c.... MayGay Cluedo next? That's a classic too, with Roxy Music samples and great gameplay.
  10. Lovely job, and a fun game. MayGay were the business in this era. Thank you.
