The original 'old' Arcade Sim code is intentionally not on github btw, as it was somewhat a proof-of-concept, so I don't feel it's a good/constructive idea to put it on there.  It's reasonably well-coded to be fair, but we don't want a bunch of Arcade Sim clones floating around at this early stage :)

The new Oasis version [of Arcade Sim and associated projects] is all about the whole community being able to build the 3d machines and the layouts (for at least fruit+video games initially); in Arcade Sim I had to build everything myself in the internal format to make stuff work, and the community could only play those machines I built, so it was both a lot of work for me, but of course unsustainable as a scene project everyone can share effort in (and also boringly passive for those creative scene members).  It wasn't an oversight as such, more that I needed to figure out if it was even possible to run full arcades with 100s of machines, with many onscreen at once.  Fortunately, as we can see from Arcade Sim v1, it totally is doable! :)

The current offerings (mainly New Retro Arcade Neon, and also a new project Arcade Time Capsule which looks very nice) have severe limitations (in my opinion) in terms of fully custom arcades (no vision for truly custom arcade layouts, no true multiplayer, no fruit machines, no pinball, no coin pushers, no indoor minigolf, no pool etc etc), and also they intentionally don't pack the machines close as a workaround to deal with performance issues (unlike Arcade Sim v1 which can run closely packed machines as per a real arcade without issue, as it was built from the ground up to handle that).  These performance architectural implementations translate to potentially running native on mobile phones, (non-tethered) VR headsets etc.

I have reached out already and had great dialog with the author of the new Time Capsule project, it sounds like we can work out some 3d model sharing in the future, as the creator is also a good 3d artist and has created a bunch of great authentic video game cabinets for his project (which would look great in Oasis).

Apologies, got side-tracked with waffling lol, but that is the vision anyway :)  And while I'm working slow right now, things should pick up, and once we get to a certain level, we should get to the 'MAME model' where other coders come and also work on it, rather than just me (and it is already being built from the ground up to facilitate 2d layout artist contributions, much like MFME).

    mouth watering

Could someone upload a decent DX that has the blended lamping slowdown issue please.  I might have a solution, though it's extra work, if it even works :)

Is it the blended lamping that slows things down or is it emulator issues?

just been given a few images of this as a crystal rebuild so will see if it's viable

im mfme is an option to unpack all blended lamps .then you have no slowdowns at all. had this on my sinbad release .

    greetings spidy

there's likely to be a few of mine that will be stuttering due my refusal to initially accept it was better to accept the error in sizing was at fault, off the top of my head, monopoly 60 and likely caesers palace 200 in attract modes

I'd hate to get smegged over by the Inland Revenue on that one though! :4_joy:

Joking aside, looking forward to the progress of this as time goes by John; every success to you along the journey. :3_grin:

i can't keep up with the code, but i recognise the effort!

i was as now in and out, and you had a tuppenny nudger 3 reel example of what is now a blissful recreation of an arcade.

    thanks basically

in edit mode, create a button then right click the button, go into properties and change the button number to:

    46: 50p in

    45: 20p in

    44: 10p in

Give them shortcuts if you want, and add coin input noises as well (if you create 2 or all 3) :D

told you wonky was your man @Boulderdash but hey now you know how to make a lamp almost ;)

Been playing around with some idea's for maybe a new FruitBar 2

    Well why not ?

I have thought over the months how to improve FruitBar, do I do a web version or an updated coded version.....

At this stage I have been playing around with creating a cabinet view, sure it would require a few different cabinets but would certainly give everything a different view.

Obviously I can zoom this to any size for portrait or landscape, etc hence why it spins and grows in size.

The important part was being about to animate the view, I might even see if I can add some flashing behind the cabinet view as such so it looks like the cabinet is turned on in attract mode sure it would not flash in the right places but it would give it an animated view and be a focus point.

At this point its an idea, feel free to add your own idea's if you wish.

Just writing this I have had an idea I need to try out......

So feel free to give your views, good or bad at this point its an idea so who knows what can happen !

But I generally work quite quick when I start to write things....

bro, you're a level above barcrest in my mind of designers

I was thinking along your lines but then I noted there were 4 hold buttons which made me think of club machines. Maybe the 4th hold button is just a spare button then.

funny enough i was gonna @ you as i was sure you'd agree haha.. it's actually a great thread inspiration, the machines on tv mk2

Yeah, the Joker looks similar on Jokers’ Wild but the games are quite different.  Famous Games Crown Jester was pretty much a copy of PCP Super Jester.

thanks i'll have a look.. it had small rectangular buttons if that helps 😕

You must have made decent money on the pier back in the day but it's what you do with the money that counts the most.

yeah i drunk all mine and whored about like a 12th century peasant, had epic free times but neglected to bank it and see the future in it, the pier started moving away from the good era for me and gave up at 25's going to 35's.. hindsight's a bitch! haha.. i love the info that i'm seeing and discovering but again hindsight haha

Cheers fella, really appreciate that :)  I’ve got a mate of mine round on the weekend, I used to go with him to do one in Hull back in the day, I’m hoping he can show me any other setups, he did say there was a few.

    Cheers fella :)
