I would find some you like, and contact the seller. Ask them if they will also run on 5v. I have bought many that said they were 12v, and they all run fine on 5v.
-
Most buttons nowadays run on 5v LED's, so wiring them up is pretty easy, and logical. The Ipac and Pacdrive push out 5v, one has a negative ground, and the other has a positive ground which makes things a bit easier.
-
It depends which layout you are trying to run. Old games only had 1 speaker, but newer ones have stereo. If it is a Scorpion 5 layout, then check the configuration, as there is a stereo/speaker left/speaker right tick box setting. Another thing to check is that you have the right audio device selected in the main preferences menu box.

There are only a few standard buttons shortcuts from what I have seen, and with some newer games having upteen zillion buttons, it not easy to have a standard button map, especially as each persons cabinet has a different amount of buttons and different layout. Thankfully there are 2 shortcuts allowed per button input, so you can use the same button for 2 non competing inputs.
My original button mapping was based on using a numerical keypad, and with editing over 1000 layouts to utilize the 16 buttons I use, I am now stuck with it. The one thing that really helps now with mapping a new layout, is the "Config" button in configuration. This helps to map your buttons to newly assigned inputs, after you load a pre-saved config file, and start adding button presses in [Edit/Properties] - (press button to assign button function). When finished click the Config button, and it maps your lamps.- 1

If your buying a 4k monitor or tv....... remember they fool you by marketing these as 4k when in actual fact they are UHD, when you investigate you find they don't have enough pixels to be 4K
so your brand new 4K tv is likely NOT to be 4K but UHD!!
(I know I know your only loosing about a inch and a half but it is still wrong of them!)
- 3840 x 2160 pixels (UHD)
- 4096 x 2160 pixels (true 4K)
Funny you should say that. There was no fixed standard when I got my first 4K TV (6 years ago) but at least it is 4096 px wide. Even now Windows tries to tell me that 3840 is recommended, even for my crap TCL, and my new LG.

i have a 4k ultrawide and was looking at 5k, simply because i sometimes need 2 windows open at once.
My old GTX 1060 (6GB) has 3 outputs, and has been running 2 4k screens no problem, so maybe that could be a cheap alternative? I usually play MFME on the portrait one, and watch Cell Block H on the landscape one:)

Damn! That's ridiculous. I wonder what sort of graphics card you would need to run that?
Just finished putting mine on a new TV cabinet, as the old one was not wide enough. I can finally do stuff now, but unfortunately I now find out my graphics card will only run 4K @ 120Hz, and new graphics cards are still expensive due to crypto mining. -
Wow! This has come such a looooong way!
I just reloaded this, and I love the older games you have added:))
One thing i would suggest though (this is not a complaint). Please reduce the reel bounce if possible. I keep thinking the reels are knackeredKeep up the fantastic work:)

Not me, not even 4k yet...... Call me old fashioned.
If bigger layouts are made, will the emulator cope?
Will most Pc's cope?
That is what I will find out. I should think so as I found a simple way of getting round the 2880 pixle height limit

8k Tellies, christ, only just got rid of CRT's............ Bet games look good if you've a shit hot pc with gfx card to match.
Fortunatley I bought a 1060 a few years ago from my winnings at an MGM casino slot:) That will run 8K.

I think 8k gaming is a good few years away yet.
I think now is the best time to get 4K as prices are good, and the tech has really evolved. However you have to get one with good upscaling! I got mine 6 years ago before all things were standard, Samsung threw the best of everything in it at the time. It upscales MFME layouts amazingly well, so I cantwait to replace the crap TCL one I use on my cab, when my new board arrives.

Hi Guys
After my main 4K tv/monitor spat out flames yesterday, I have ordered a new 8K jobby - while I wait for a new power board. This will give me the chance to make a few, or all of my layouts bigger, as I always have to reduce the size of them when I get to the cabinet stage. So I was wondering if anyone is using 8K? If so let me know, and I will make some bigger layouts available.

It kinda does, but I might have to rename myself to unamusements. I wonder how many chair legs were sticking out of this machine in the wild!

Not sure if this has been asked before..
Will these work in a home build cab, i.e. you can navigate via touch and still play with real coins and it payout etc.?
I just tried this out on my cab. The shortcuts that are universal work, but the payouts and leds wont work, unless there is a PAcDrive config set up. With most cab set ups being unique, this is going to be a future challenge, unless we are able to load layouts locally, or have a something that can convert a universal set up to our own.

I just tried my cab copy of this, and collecting 15 squid was not easy:) I eventually got 16 squid in the bank, and collected 16 coins from hopper 1 without issue. The only difference between my copy of this, and possibly yours, is that I wiped the ROM/stats, and topped the hopper up,+ upped the volume before playing.
The only time I have ever had an issue with hopper payouts, is if I accedently put hopper "1" in output 15, or hopper "2" in output 16 on the Pacdrive.

Optional bot players are planned further down the line that wander around and play machines in solo mode, a Wizard avatar could certainly be in there! There will also be a credits section at some point thanking everyone involved in software this relies on - MFME, MAME, Visual Pinball, plus all artists, testers etc.
That makes me laugh!!! Imagine the fun we can have with that:)

...I wonder, perhaps for single hopper machines setting a macro to both [ and ] would actually work on the iPac controller ?
After all - when not neeed ] is not going to do anything ?
Or link the [] inputs with a piece of wire on the Ipac. After all, you can press both [] keys on your keyboard, at the exactly the same time.

Just had a look at this. It's hopper 1 payout but ] for the opto. You might have to add a switch to reverse the opto [] round.
I use one of these https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32899745173.html 6 pin 3 position - latching. I also suggest adding a comma and another TAG so you know what needs the opto switching.

I have come across the following that like to swop the main hopper if that helps?
Twin Dragon DX
and the following clubbers
Very Rich Geezer
Club Rd Hot 6
Frame and Fortune
Wild Jackpots. For me on 2 hoppers, I added a key switch to my cab. This swops opto 1 wires with opto 2, and that lets me change hopper 1 with hopper 2 in Pacdrive settings. Otherwise payouts go mental.

Nice job Reg:)
I wish you would of kept the note acceptor though, especially as we now have the way of getting it to work, or even give change.

Interesting question!
For me, the screen set up is what makes the player experience more authentic. My current set up is a 43" 4K screen in portrait mode, attached to this stand, with my physical butons just above the bottom of the screen. (In the future I plan on using my bigger 4K screen, which should equal a more realistic cabinet width + my other screen does a proper job of upscaling)
Setting up each layout, requires chopping off any side art work & making the backgrounds black.
I then add blank space to the top of each layout to force it to the bottom of my screen.
For layouts that exceed 2880 in height, I have to set the layout to an editable size, set the width I want, then drag the top of the layout down towards the buttons - only then, can you exceed the 2880 height restriction - by draging the top up past 2880 to the top of the layout and add blank space.
EG:I forgot to add, I have 3 small buttons on the back of my button box for ESC, F3, F6, and a 2.4g mouse pen. Also...Being able to drag the layout past 2880, we can have some 8K layouts in the future:)

Doesn't that time out and boot up? I get that all the time because I always wipe the RAM on a new layout. Then I have to go through the fill the hopper and up the sound stuff.
