  1. Yeah boots was the place that had all games. I didn’t buy many games as my mates dad used to get pirated tapes from his work every other week. Was s bit naughty but when you’re a kid it seems ok. J
  2. I was also firmly in the Spectrum camp.... eventually.... All my friends had the Spectrum, I was unlucky the previous year. My mam and dad got me a Vic20.... I was the laughing stock at school, even the teachers laughed in my face (not really). It didn't matter, I really wasn't into computers prior to this, my parents didn't know what they were buying to be fair, they'd been rumbelow'd. The Vic20 was probably the same price as the ZX Spectrum I reckon, I'm sure the Vic20 was £139.99 or something like that. I did have some fun on 'Blitz' and a short time later I asked (made) my mother buy me a 16K expansion pack, so I could get Perils of Willy and a game called Wunda Walter, both were excellent games actually. J
  3. There is an option in mfme preferences to scale to screen res. J
  4. Ha ha, I remember playing this one cold winters evening on my friends Spectrum... Could have been yesterday, I remember afterwards we played out in the snow. I distinctly remember it being just after Christmas cause I’d got a ZX Spectrum + my dad took me and my friend to boots in town to get a game, it was Dec 27th 1985, the roads were treacherous I remember our car spinning on the ice. I got Rambo, my friend got Commando. We seemed to be in there for hours. Great times and memories. J
  5. Yeah might have been a little behind. I couldn't get the hang of it at first and it just kept offering an invincible, that's how bad I was. I was missing a small step out. J
  6. Did it twice quite quickly. Since then it's been stitching me up with cash advance until it's in danger then it's all over.. Will keep trying a couple of bits. J
  7. Hey I just went for the side £70 square and it let me get to it, just by using the rules you outlined. Like I said this is P3 maybe a bit easier, unless I just got incredibly lucky but I imagine it would block this unless invincible? J
  8. By the way Al, this is running V0.3, not V0.4. J
  9. I did some original work on that red hot poker cab for richy so I do have a decent cab. I had been doing some bits for a Reno DX a while back but put it on the back burner. The top glass image on that pic isn’t too bad I’ve recreated the bottom glass from various bits etc. I was going to work on this at some point but there is nothing stopped you creating something vecs if you wanted fella. I can hold off with it no problem. J
  10. Cheers Al, really nice looking Barcrest this, stonking DX as well. Can be hard work on the board sometimes. What could you do on earlier versions? Was there a different method? J
  11. I actually owned this machine in 2009, never got any pics as I never imagined we’d ever see them emulated..... doh!!! ...well I did have pics but they are with the machine on in a darkened room. J
  12. If decent Reno images every surfaced I would definitely be creating a layout even if it was just for my personal use. Gold Rush will be unlikely, not seen one since 2006. I did start redrawing Reno from some lo res images when mfme v5 was released, but my personal opinion is that glass scans/redraw are no-where near as good as hi-res images of the actual machine. J
  13. Great vid Al, sublime. God I miss playing these in the wild for sure I also released a version of Gold Rush which complimented Reno Reels and is almost a clone apart from the way the feature can be entered, you can enter with a normal feature entry or get 3 coins on one reel (via feature holds) and enter with feature already upgraded. It was a strange one. Gold Rush is my personal favourite, was an emptier on at least 2 of the programmes for all these, Reno, gold rush, monte and miami. Was always nice to find one of these, they were everywhere back in the day. Never got chipped till the early on in the £8 era, so a lot of the £8 tokens ones worked. We got the trick in summer 95, a fix was released in Dec 95. Still back then just pre-mobile phones these tricks lasted for ages, I played a fair few in 1996 that were still unchipped, great era to play in, do miss those crazy times. Cheers J

    California Club

I guess all machine had this kind of gamble watch dog of how much the machine can afford before forcing a lose. Wonder if it is present in any other Barcrest machines from this era. Quite possibly especially a club machine.
  15. No problem Reg, minor tweaks fella, your ad was fine, this is just a variation to the theme, will send the psd with additional fonts later this afternoon. Glad to help out. J
  16. I’d love to see this emulated, it wasn’t an especially great game to be fair, fairly frustrating and predictable feature board but not played it for many, many years. Only ever saw a few of these back on the day. J
  17. Of course I can fella, no problem J
  18. Also Reg, not being picky You might want to move all content 2cm in all way round basically a 2cm border, if not when printed content will be so close to border edges. J
  19. Be a shame not to have it lit though, lovely looking layout. Just lighten the on image Dave, maybe 25 - 30 percent. J
  20. You might want to lighten the layout image of the emulated fruit machine. It will come out so much darker that it is on this proof. Also output the artwork to at least 300dpi for magazIne prInt. J
  21. I could make the logo look 8 bit. Just go to layer effects and pixelate, not too much just to give it that blocky pixel look J
  22. Maybe line up, it’s from that era and is an iconic machine for sure J
  23. Looks great reg, logo looks brilliant fella You could say ‘actual fruit machine software’ rather than roms possibly? J
