I have no experience with foreign machines. They are just totally different. Don’t think you have gamble options etc. Never played it, I just prefer UK based machines personally.

Totally lol!!

It's not actually obsolete in certain circles, people are still writing games for it in 2020. The spectrum demo scene is still very active as well, some amazing demos by some seriously talented coders.

I used to have a Twilight Zone in my bedroom back in the late 90's. Sold it to make way for a BFM Club Attraction. Had a Barcrest non-prize Monte Carlo as well. All long gone now - you just get bored of them after a while.
Anyone remember Ace's Aladdin's Cave? Clone of Swap Shop. Only ever saw one, never seen a pic since.
Yes, an arcade in Ingoldmells had Aladdin’s Cave and Swop Shop next to each other.
Both on £4.80 jackpot
Didn’t like the game mechanics personally. Think you could still empty the early £4.80 v02 from lines, was a pain though I imagine as it would offer that stupid reel spin feature mostly when buzzed up.

Nothing stopping somebody creating a layout built with alt roms in readiness for the actual roms turning up.
I’m not too keen of hybrid setups personally, really don’t see the point. I do like the look of the artwork on this clone. I can’t recall seeing many of these in the wild, maybe a couple, there wasn’t any round my neck of the woods at all.

Yeah I remember seeing the adverts and being a little upset and sensing an end to an era and that soon everything will change for me, I would be leaving school soon and I just wanted to pause time.....
But, the 8 bits had a decent run for their money, the ZX Spectrum and C64 had game releases well into the 90's, that's really not too shabby. Also the Atari ST was available in 1985 and had games released for it, the Amiga 500, 1987.
I just feel blessed that I was a kid growing up in the 80's, such a brilliant era.

Ah the good old Fairplay machine where if you add an alpha it shows you how high the gamble will go
I guess all machine had this kind of gamble watch dog of how much the machine can afford before forcing a lose. Wonder if it is present in any other Barcrest machines from this era. Quite possibly especially a club machine.

I’d love to see this emulated, it wasn’t an especially great game to be fair, fairly frustrating and predictable feature board but not played it for many, many years. Only ever saw a few of these back on the day.

Possible S6.

We always had the roms but I'm not sure if these don't run due to the security issue that affects a lot of these Electrocoins.
Worth giving them a try though.

A lot of these wouldn’t be doable in an arcade for obvious reasons, even with a clicker/sparker, not too sure when BFM introduced their security measures. JPM issued a lot of rechips around 1995 to combat power downs.
