First of two Re-releases from me tonight which were made prior to mfme v5's release Easy Streak this has been redone from scratch again Thanks goto @Tommy c for the base reel symbols used and help getting rid of the "stuck button alarm" needed to remove the button numbers to clear and to whoever i gained the flyer from the layout is still ropey in places due to the flyer especially the bonus text, but it says what they are on the alpha display Plays in Mfme v20.1 Enjoy and Happy Gaming (again)!!!

  2. I'll have a look for you tomorrow woodsy, although TBH I still think you'll struggle at that price point, the graphics card market is all kind of screwed up at the moment thanks to the global chip shortage and crypto miners bulk buying new cards before they even get into the regular supply chain, plus increased demand for graphics hardware in general, which has caused used prices to rocket. As such any machine (including laptops) that has any kind of gaming credentials is costing far more than it should do, be it used or new. I've just had a look on eBay and used GTX1080s have buy it now prices of around £400, which is bonkers money for the card in 2021, I didn't pay that much more for mine when I bought it brand new just over three years ago!

  3. Yes as per the video I did a couple of weeks ago, the key factor seems to be having a proper discrete GPU, even a relatively old one will do the job. Mrs Chopley's old PC which got repurposed as a media centre/MAME/Pinball Arcade PC for the big telly has a 2GB GTX960 in it, which was only a midrange card even in its day, and that pushes AS around perfectly at 1080p. Once you get into the realm of integrated graphics (which a lot of laptops/all-in-ones have), AS will either run poorly, or not at all depending on the feature set it supports. (As I found out in the video trying it on a modern laptop that uses Intel integrated graphics.) The good news is AS doesn't need much horsepower to run well, but you will want to be getting out of the realm of integrated graphics. So in DAD's example above, a GTX1050 is plenty good enough for the task.

  4. Thanks John I was wanting to find a straightforward 'good news item' as it were to put something positive and uplifting into the video whilst also explaining why there'd been nothing new on the channel for 11 days, but also not stretch myself too much in terms of doing a method or an online slots session or something like that (which really isn't in me at the moment), so I hope you don't mind me featuring the update to Arcade Simulator in the video as an entirely positive development in the context of what's a very sad time with us here at the moment. I will parse this thread and get as much information as I can out of it, and then I will reach out to you for some specifics and some more personal input from yourself if that's OK, to try and do my little bit to give your work the credit it deserves. I still feel really sad about the loss of Chris, I have three instances of MFME running on my PC at this moment in time (currently the DAD Star Wars collection as all three of them run side by side on a 4K monitor), just because I like to see fruit machine emulation 'in action' and I still find it magical every single day, and seeing the work you've done with Arcade Simulator is incredible, whilst also acknowledging the brilliance of Chris and what he did with MFME. If you walked way from this today I would simply thank you for all you have already done, but I would also be thrilled to see what you can achieve in the future.

Here is another favourite machine of mine called Bank Raid by PCP 5p play £2 jackpot. I used to play this machine with my pocket money or my wages from working on the donkeys for 50p an Hr and free cups of tea . The Arcade was called the Oasis a small arcade in comparison to some of them in the town of Rhyl but it did have some of the best machines hope you all enjoy. Thanks go to the following @serene02 for the cabinet, @alex74 for the use of his Classic, @infection for some images and a massive thank you to the great man who created MFME @Wizard .

  6. I suggest it is best to buy now as I don't things are gonna improve until at least the 1 quarter of next year with shortages in electronics

  7. All electronic components are really difficult to get hold of, I am designing electronics for use in broadcast and just a simple buck regulator used in lots of standard things to get the volts down from 12 to 3.3v are not available until August 2022! so I thought change from Texas instruments chip to a different manufacture, theirs are not available till September 2022! all these are from the manufactures websites too! I guess the factory that caught fire and burned for 4 days in china that makes a lot of chips doesn't help!! There is also a shortage of surface mount capacitors too. It is very much a nightmare at the moment so can quite believe everything electronic will rise in price!

  8. Sure thing, I'll add a toggleable FPS display to the backlog Also, thanks for helping advise people about the graphics hardware options, I'm really out of touch with that sort of stuff these days! Glad it's working well for you I'll add unlockable/gsync type framerate to the backlog - though I don't have a gsync type monitor to test so you might be the guinea pig for trying it out when it goes in, I've made a note of your username on the task. At some point - as I do have the cabinet already made for that (the one that Smash & Grab is in). I'm currently working on Eclipse cab machines (and then I have some other biggish tasks to do after the next patch)... so it'll be a while but not too long, maybe in a month or two

  10. @johnparker007 Hey dude, can you add a toggle for FPS? @cja272 That’s good to know at least. You are running a fairly recent CPU with UHD Intel graphics. Good to know though

  11. It runs for me (laptop does get very hot) using most of the memory etc with the looks of it so going to upgrade soon

  12. I’d class that as a gaming laptop to be fair Strong CPU combined with the GTX 1050 is more than capable for 1080 gaming. J

  13. Runs fine on my 4 year old system.....Running Windows 11 Home Edition... Dell Inspiron 5577 Laptop Processor. Intel Core i5 7th Gen 7300HQ. Memory. RAM. 8GB. Graphics Processor. Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050. Can't wait to fill my own arcade up with some lo-tech goodies Incidentally, not sure if I mentioned to@johnparker007that he's free to add any of my layouts if he wants.

  14. Spec details would be handy but AS scans for the required hardware to run, it sounds like you are running a low end laptop unfortunately. J

  15. I’d argue that AS will only run well on a gaming laptop. It’s all about the GPU, if your laptop doesn’t have a discrete GPU then AS will either not run at all or suffer from poor frame rates. J

Next layout enlarged for v20 is this one, i've basically enlarged the Off/On Background arts from the original layout and still look clear enough Here's the notes and thanks from the 1024/2016 release Next up we Steppa back in time to what some would call the Golden era of fruit machines. A machine so old i was barely tall enough to reach the buttons let alone shove big fat 10p's into it, i was still being weaned on the 2p pushers when this came out. The year was 1981 the year of the Cold winter (-28oC) and this classic Golden Steppa, requested by cashbox1 Thanks goto- Superbank for the roms and hi quality images he uploaded back in 2008, Compost Corner aka zoltar for the classic used for lamping positions (what little there are lol) And to Ploggy for the donated cab from top up of which i re-coloured gold'ish. And to the contributor of the reel symbols probs one of the above. Sounds uploaded by Liam Shortcuts are- Start = spacebar Auto start = A Nudges = 1,2,3 Nudge Up = ` Coins in- 50p's = 0 New 20p's = 9 Old Big 10p's =8 Tokens = T. Plays in mfme v20.1 Still can't get the coin effects sounds when paying out on this one, if anyone susses it please post a screenie of the configuration settings to make this complete Enjoy and Happy Gaming (again)!!!

Way back in March of 2021 @Clo06 released a classic of this QPS machine which is play on War of the Worlds (similar music to the movie score). Fast forward to now and I fancied trying my hand at another DX, after Red Square, using the hi res artwork that @Player uploaded to the artwork thread. After spending three full days on it this is what I came up with. I used a couple of new techniques in photoshop for the lamps and overall machine lighting. I also learnt a couple of new things with the MFME tools thanks to @vectra666. This is new territory for me as this one has a disc reel which I had a silly mistake on with the lamps, however thanks to @Clo06 it was sorted in minutes. I try not to use a classic as a start unless I am struggling to get the rom started. I want to try and start from scratch myself just so I can learn how to do it all. I love creating the artwork side of doing a DX but I also love to learn how to get the roms running and all the settings. NOTE: There is artwork to change this to the £6 and £4 version which was suggested I do, however I have a short attention span so decided to leave this open for anyone who wants to add it later themselves. Anyway I hope you enjoy the layout. *********************************************************** Thanks goes out to the following for their resources and input:- @Clo06 for the classic to which I used as a reference to get the rom running and also for help with the disc reel @Player for the hi res artwork upload @infection for the list of machines which still needed a DX doing and also for beta testing Big BIG THANKS goes out to this guy..... @vectra666 for help with finishing off and tidying up, suggesting a few changes and also for supplying some replacement images to use in other machines. Thanks also to everyone listed above and a couple others for BETA testing.
