  2. Wow a lot of posts on this thread at the mo! Been having a bit of a break over this weekend, more beer-focused, less coding-focused... Firstly, thanks very much @Chopaholic for your donation to the project, and for the lovely video you made! Right, let me try reply to queries raised apologies if I've missed anyone: Sure thing I don't seem to have the layout, so I'd need that - I've just been downloading layouts from here for the moment (but not the Legacy packs, just the single uploads). But it should get it soonish, as it'll presumably be in an Eclipse cab, and not have anything I haven't built yet (like band reels). Agreed The arcade is a bit haphazard for now, as there's lot to do on the Editor (I'm using the editor that all users will have access to once I've worked more stuff out)... but ultimately the 'default' arcade wil be more organised. You'll also be able to play arcades other users have built, if they have chosen to share them via the online functionality (not yet built). @fits I suspect this is down to issues we are seeing with third party virus killer software, mistaking certain parts of Arcade Sim as potentially malicious software. On the borrowed laptop, does it have some antivirus security software installed, such as Norton etc? As these get reported, I'm generally trying to then get those antivirus companies to whitelist the relevant Arcade Sim files... so then it will hopefully fix the issue, for everyone with that security software. Thanks man I've been going for quite a few beers recently, feel like I need to let my liver recover! Do you still go through Sheffield train station sometimes for your work then? Could maybe squeeze a couple in one time if you're passing through These machines are planned, though it's getting the time to both work on the cabinet model, and also these are video machines so there'll be more work there (I haven't done video machine stuff yet). So these machines will be quite a bit down the line, just due to there being these things that need implementing first. That is something I thought about. Currently, the older techs boot up pretty quickly, as I'm making MFME run 'unthrottled' so it runs as fast as your CPU can run it, until it has booted, then it goes back to normal speed. On Scoprtion 5/MPU5 machines with DES, they are still slow, even with this approach, as the DES stuff is computationally expensive. With MAME< I can probably implement save states for all techs one day, with MFME this is unfortunately not possible, as Chris is no longer with us. I did have an idea (that may end up as an 'Experimental' option at some point, where it'd pre-emptively load machines up in the background that you are need - so then it could have them paused, ready to start if you chose them. This feature isn't a priority for now, though I may add it at some point. It does mean as you walk around your CPU fan will be whirring away all the time though (as it's doing unthrottled startups in the background all the time for machines you might play), so I'm not sure how great it will be! Thanks man There will be other machines, though this will take time (both to build 3d cabinet models, and convert). In terms of things like change machines, posters, entrance/exit - a lot of this will happen at some future point, as the Editor is expanded to support 'Walls' and 'Props'. So then there will be tings like fire extinguishers, posters, non-rectangular arcades etc. Not low priority, but also, not urgent in comparison to adding machines, and things related to that side of it all... Thanks for the info! Ok, so can I ask, - are you seeing this message every time you start up a machine? Or is it just very occasionally? For slower PCs (including my test PC) I've seen this happen sometimes, which I do need to work no. However, if it's happening very time, I'd bet it's down to some anti-virus software on your PC that has nuked either the .dlls/dll injector. What anti-virus software do you have installed please?

  3. Only just returned to MFME and heard the news, it's a tragedy that anyone from such a dedicated community is lost, but when it's such a cornerstone of all arcade emulation, it's absolutely heartbreaking. RIP Wizard

  5. This is not correct mate. G2 have a lot of people from Global, and the name was supposed to be a play on Global2, hence G-Squared. Their first machine was Kung Fu Pounda which was done by guys at a company called TopDog. They then did High Voltage which was a KFP re-glass but with some bits added/taken away. After this, they entered into a partnership with Betcom (who also did games for Blueprint). Basically G2 would design a game and graphics then send it to Betcom to program. They then dived into the digital machine market with a very nice looking digital cabinet called Casino King. They later fell out (after Gauselmann/Blueprint owners bought Betcom) with Betcom, not sure on the specifics, but they tried to get going with some TopDog code again with a game called Plumber's Payday, which was originally "The Good, The Bad and The Pugly" - it seemed to have moderate success, but haven't really seen much from them since. They did one called Mummy's Money which was a KFP and then a trump themed one called "Make Jackpots Great Again" or something like that. Pretty sure they did one called "A Fairytale of Moo York" too which had a quirk of the DOND game being properly random, but unfortunately it never took off. A shame really as they're great people and I'd have liked to see them do well vs what we have from the bigger manufacturers left. Anyway, this isn't the purpose of this topic so will leave it there, but hopefully that's covered a bit.

  6. It appears the table changes with the addition of the Yamaha sound, it seems to be changing the lamp table mapping In the current lamp table only the first 2 table entry's change the first 2 columns, the rest change nothing!! this seems where MFME and the real world differ!

  7. Wow! This has come along leaps and bounds. Even works on my basic Lenovo Ideapad 330S lappy although slightly slows down when I select a game to play. (CASH MATRIX.... SKILL will once again be doable if that's added ha ha)... Love the way that when you leave a machine you were playing, the reel symbols stay faithful to the last spin played. How does anyone create such fantastic things in their spare time? Chris with the emulator, and John Parker with this. In my spare time, I just about get time to jet wash the the patio. And I even fucked that up, sending the soil from the gaps in the paving all over the french doors. The other half ain't best pleased.

  8. Had to post after trying it out, this is the most incredible piece of work I have ever seen. It's just superb the way it has all been put together so hats off to JohnParker. Few humble suggestions as the project develops - perhaps put in some banks of Lo-Tech machines, a fake change machine, an entrance/exit to the arcade and a few BACTA responsible gambling posters or suchlike on the walls? Can't wait for the next release. Thanks again.

Halloween's Come early to Fme land with this frightfully good slot from reflex, become a grave robber and steal the loot or scare yourself by emptying your pockets of dosh Imo, It's a nice fun packed slot with plenty going on. Thanks goto @fruitsnappa for the roms used, still a fair few to use and emulate @infection for the images used including reel images especially for the hi lo and feature symbols which are hard to come by, great work there mate!! A few things with this layout, the red led's for the reels are there but don't light up during the "red reels" in play maybe something not set up right, although they do flash when free spins are won, but it doesn't affect gameplay as its states what's what on the alpha also the numbers underneath go red. the reels normally use 3 - 4 led colours. the centre part of the feature board should have led's but like fiddle a fortune and others these don't do much and only hide the feature reel normally underneath i think that's it so, Enjoy and Happy Gaming!!!

I don't mate, but I'm not even an hour on one of those rickety Northern rail tin can trains away so will make time at some point when you're free as well, probably be towards the end of next month or early October though but definitely sort something! Wonder what AS would look like with a vertical touch screen that's on the interplay. Need to find a decent micro win10 pc to wack in it haha

  20. Ah so adding the sound chip changes the lamp table mapping - most curious! Well it's amazing progress so far, I guess just keep plugging away at the problem, you may be the first person to ever have a working fake Chr replacement chip, pioneering stuff man - really great work!

  23. Hi Dave. There are a few diagrams in the cabinet forum, but each build differs depending on what type of coin mech and hopper is being used. What have you bought so far? Have you made a design? You could start a thread in the Cabinet Building when you stat building, and we can help you as you go along:)

  26. It is really not that easy! Here is a headscratcher!!!!! I have been using this type of program card.... it works 100% now I have transferred both chips to the card for the machine, it is this program card Now the lamps have changed!!!!! reel lamps are now well split up and not in the nice chunk at the beginning where they should be! I can still read my new lamp table from the chip, no problems there and all the values are good read back with the fluke. Its not the card as I get the same on 2 good cards! they also work perfectly with a proper chr chip used with this rom! I don't understand why it works well on one type of program card and not another when the proper chip does!! very confusing!

  27. Hi John yes it was so pleasing to have this all come together in such a short time really! I surprised myself with the coding in wincupl for the pal chip! I thought I would be spending days and possibly longer working out the pal chip coding! I have been studying your really useful video you posted! It was very enlightening and showed me the way to do this on MFME myself! this is what I have found so far..... your indeed totally right #800 address read right data for chr and #802 / #803 for read right of the lamp table....... but on real hard ware this turns out to do exactly the same! the address decoding is on the main mpu4 so the security chip just sees 'access' and 'data'. In fact the address decoding allows for addressing from #800 to #8FF and it access the chip, there is no distinction between any address for the real hardware as long as it is in that range. (tested with the fluke) My guessing is they had planned a more elaborate idea of accessing the security chip using different addresses which never was implemented!, still its handy to know in there programming code #800 is chr and #802/#803 is for lamp table! I guess it made it easier for them to know what side it was accessing!!! the other thing of notability is...... when I run looking at the lamp table (as in your video) the thing that jumped out as me was it read and wrote to the chip 3 times with the same data and returned the same data........ so tried this on the real chr chip and got 3 different answers back for the same place in the lamp table!! I am investigating this to see if I can find how the lamp data for each place on the table is derived! so in the real security chip the actual lamp data key is NOT transmitted but a encrypted version, this must be how they hide the code in plain sight!!!! more on this hopefully to follow!! thankyou again for taking the time to make the video and post it hope that all made sense!

  28. Time to put the dedicated graphics in my new laptop to good use and test this out. Looks awesome well done. Shame you cant just walk up to a machine and play straight away without having to wait for it to boot, but thats just crazy talk surely. Would be impossible to have something like that unless you had a monster setup that could handle a ton of emulations running at the same time?

  29. @Reg I don't mind at all. Only way it wouldn't have been uploaded here is if it was done before fml artists had a release area.

  33. You have to show a little patience concerning Johns AS, this is why I think this thread should be closed as he through all pages of this thread is overwhelmed with requests and fixes, not starting anything but this coding stuff no doubt needs a lot of focus (imagine what @Wizard went through), determination and an incredible amount of patience, we also need to show some compassion (including me as just as eager to have his finishing product) so he can complete his off the scales platform and put a massive grin on all our faces. Me, I am not thinking of myself or other members I am thinking about new beginnings and Johns wellbeing whilst he does his job to satisfy the masses whilst asking nothing in return which sounds like someone else I once knew!! Much love all and lets do the right thing by him

  35. Great video Al ;). John Parker deserves some exposure to a wider audience. I also find it kind of mind boggling. That is JP all over. He was staying for a weekend break at mine and I got talking about how difficult it was to build a fruit machine layout in mame, this was just prior to mfme v5. Anyway literally a week or so later he had build converter that could take mfme DX layouts and create a make compatible layout. Very impressive guy, it’s an absolute honour to have him as a friend real life. He’s on a complete different level, hard to keep up with him to be honest Big love JP

  37. There's something very "ASMR" about this. Just walking around, looking at all the machines, going in demo mode, is strangely pleasing. Then picking the one you want, lovely....... That said, I just walked out. No Labyrinth, Big Chief, Seventh Heaven etc. It's be nice in the future, to have all the classics in one spot, then the more modern ones in another place. Sort of like the "retro" bandit arcades are set out.

A battle Against good n evil takes you on an adventure to outer space in this cosmic themed slot from Qps whether this machine was out in the real world or a failed test machine who knows, there's a few examples of this within the art itself 1. the flyer was originally £15 jackpot, yet the roms wouldn't go down to that level, so changed accordingly.. 2. it was supposed to be multi stake/3 lines as the original flyer shown, again the roms used doesn't do that option afaik so removed the change stake decal on the buttons but left the lamping in for them on the board Thanks goto @Playerfor the art used from his resources topic @Johnnyafc for the classic he designed ages back without the real art to go by Shortcuts listed within the notes, play in mfme v20.1 Enjoy and Happy Gaming!!!!
