  2. "Wine for Wizard - Update" I am changing the deal... ...originally I said this would run until 1st July 2020 and Wizard get all the funds then, that is now not possible. As of today, this will run to the agreed date - but I am going to have to pass Wizard funds in chunks with the first one being as soon as he sends me some details. There is one simple request here - Wizard does not reveal how much he had until it's all over - I'll do a graphic with the final check at the end that will be the sum of all totals when I send the last payment to him - but will update here everytime a payment has been sent. Today beside forum issues - behind the scenes PayPal literally shit a brick at me and were not happy with the account - it has limited use as to what I can do. I cannot send money to another account - but - I can withdraw money, pretty fucked up eh ! This is not a problem for future donations towards Wine for Wizard as I already had a nominated Bank Account that allowed me to transfer money out - so no fault there but what I do not want to happen is with the amount of Wine for Wizard that has already been brought, get the account frozen or something like that. The only solution is to pay in bits. Now one thing I want to be clear - the reason PayPal have shit a brick is likely they've never seen the account be used as it is at the moment - imagine a trickle then a flood - this is what has happened - something, somewhere triggered. They likely think something very odd is going on ! This is the love and dedication that you all have for Wizard and shown and shows what has been rasied in ten days. Tonight I did two withdrawals, a small amount then followed by the rest of it - that is now sitting in my bank account that I need to move onto Chris as I can't have that money floating around. All money raised for Wine for Wizard is safely away from PayPal and that will continue every time there is a lump that I can pay until the final payment at the end of June. Anyway that is all - great work so far - I wish I could see Wizard's face when this comes through - twenty years work being thanked for. Reg.

  4. Just did so. Well earned too in my opinion. Put it another way, how much money would you have thrown into one of these modern fruties and not even got a sniff of a prize? Far better off putting a few pennies in here and getting guaranteed enjoyment. You can almost smell the fish n chips, kebab or pub surroundings when you hark back to an 80s or early 90s FM. Will give it a day or so and have a root around in the legacy area.

  5. Tbh from a point of view of how I feel and what the cost (in my mind) of Wizards emulator would be(in theory) 1. To research, find then own every fruit machine that a layout has been created from buy it then fill each one with cash/tokens/notes, 2. To own/rent a big enough premises to house several thousand fruit machines, 3. A 24hr operators licence which has the correct categories too so the gambling commission is not on your case, 4. Top of the range security system with motion sensors and remote CCTV linked to the Police, 5. Enough Engineers to deal with all issues, Have I forgotten anything?? This may be extreme to some but I have it all on a Pc with tech support at hand. Now I wonder how much that would cost above THAT IS WHAT IT IS WORTH TO ME Wizard so thanks for putting the time, effort and love into something that we all love and that I know I will most probably be pissing around with well into my old age. Legend mate, you fully deserve drinks on us and when I get funds sorted I will sling a final drink in the pot in a couple of weeks.

  6. Here we have a release of my personal software used on my touch screen home built fruit machine which I said I would share. It's about 90% done, all's I need to implement to it is a jukebox which is functionable using just the touch screen (any suggestions on this will be helpful). When you load TouchLaunch.exe if you press F12 you get more options, i.e. where the Emulator.exe is and your games folder, the game folders must be named as per the attachment or it won't recognize them. If you add your own games, within the game folder must be a thumbnail.jpg for it to display the thumbnail of the game. ESC closes it. As this is for my own use, I have only set it up for my needs and welcome any suggestions to improve it. Feel free to use or modify it in anyway. Touch Launch.rar

  8. HI, I'm currently working through them all, I'm up to T's in Barcrest. After Barcrest, BWB, JPM and BFM are done it's going to be a matter of days. If I keep going the rate I am I should be finished the whole collection in about two weeks depending if real life gets in the way. I will eventually get them all done though. You can open an old .dat in v5.1 then save it as an .fml so it will run in v19 but of course it won't always have the tweaks that are possible in v19. That would have to be done separately. Good luck.

  12. Duke of Lancaster Wales For these that have drove up the north wales coast as a child and seen the big ship docked next to the market and wounded what it was about. Its rusting hulk lies off the Welsh coast like an abandoned ghost ship ready for the breakers yard. But the dream that brought the Duke of Lancaster to its spot at Llanerch-y-Mor in 1979 was a million miles removed from its current sorry state. The ship was to be a floating leisure and retail complex called The Funship. It was hoped it would become one of the region’s top tourism attractions. But instead of happy tourists roaming its decks and taking in the seascape, the intervening 37 years have brought mostly stagnation for the ship amid a row between its owner John Rowley and the local authority. With plans in place for a hotel conversion (which never materialised), and kitted out with various attractions, including an arcade covering the whole of the car deck, the Fun Ship quickly became a popular tourist attraction, creating jobs and bringing wealth to the local area. But the fun wasn’t to last long. A very complicated and fraught legal fight began with the local council who feared its presence would decimate local businesses. Its use as “The Fun Ship” was relatively short-lived and it was subsequently closed to the public; supposedly because access to the ship is via a bridge under the North Wales railway line, which was too low for emergency vehicles – a technicality disputed by the owners throughout the battle What this meant was that amongst all its other other inventory, over 50 arcade machines from the golden era were sealed shut inside the ship. Over time, the derelict ship started to rust, and became largely forgotten about, known only to locals as the beached ship by the coast. No one went there, no one cared. The owners stated they had no plans to sell. It was literally a metal tomb. And so it quietly sat, holding its cargo. Fast forward to 2009, and some folks over at the 28dayslater website, an urban exploration community, posted a series of pictures supposedly taken from inside the vessel. For those that don’t know, ‘Urbex’ is a pastime where people gain access to old abandoned buildings and explore, taking pictures along the way. Someone had managed to gain access to the inside of the ship in the middle of the night. Amongst the set of haunting pictures they took was a single tantalising glimpse of the stash of cabs: A picture of some of these machines surfaced on an urban explorer website and was spotted by arcade machine enthusiasts. Oliver Moazzezi, a member of arcade machine enthusiast forum www.ukvac.com, then began trying to track down the owners. Oliver said: "I spent eight months trying to contact the owners of the place I could see the games in. I phoned the council, I phoned the Post Office (yeah I really did!) in the town and phoned everywhere, each time getting another clue in the puzzle that would lead me to the owners of this place that had the games in. I finally contacted the owners in January 2011 after going through the said local councils, local shops (you name it) and finally got in contact with a family member. Met by the owner at the ship, Oliver and two friends were let in and eventually discovered the arcade. Oliver was blown away by the discovery. He told The Arcade Blogger: "I couldn’t believe all these games had been here and then one day in 1983 the ship was shut not to be opened again due to legal issues. These games saw year after year of summers and winters through the port holes, the sun rising, the sun setting, FOR THIRTY YEARS. It took another eight months of going back and forth with the seller to arrange to get the machines off the ship. A price was agreed but then Oliver was given 10 days to remove them or lose them. So the net result was that one by one, over 50 classic arcade machines were saved, and the team pulled off what is considered the most audacious arcade raid ever carried out here in the UK. These cabs are now in the safe hands of collectors across Europe and are in the process of being repaired and restored. And this is the essence of the hobby – finding, rescuing and restoring these early games.
