Adders 'N' Ladders by Empire Games - £5 & £35 Classics 1.0.0

About This File

Here's a couple of layouts I've put together for Adders 'N' Ladder by Empire Games. It's a pretty simple game and hopefully simple enough to play :)

Thanks to @infection for the £35 board photo, and user Chris217 on YouTube for his video of the £5 versions being played. Thanks to @andy-1as well who provided me with the ROMs running in a blank MFME layout, and also obvious thanks are obvious when it comes to @Wizard. I know these layouts don't really do justice to your emulator but hopefully they'll put a smile on someone's face, until something better comes along (or I get my arse in gear!).

Beginning to wish I'd done a traditional classic layout as there's so many reflections and issues on the board parts that the £35 for example could pretty much do with being redrawn. That might be a project for another day, but for now please enjoy these cosmetically challenged versions.

Any errors please let me know! :)

[quote]Empire Games 'Adders 'N' Ladders' - on Barcrest MPU5.

Set on £5 Jackpot, 20p Play and 86% Payout.

Layout designed by SlotsMagic using MFME v20.1

** Keyboard Shortcuts **

Insert £1 = 0

Start = Spacebar
Hold 1 = 1
Hold 2 = 2
Hold 3 = 3
Cancel / Collect = '
Exchange = E
Auto Nudge = A

** Notes **

This layout was put together to give something hopefully playable, and I'm sure better version(s) will appear in the future :)

It is based on the more basic of the Adders 'N' Ladders machines, which doesn't have the feature symbols located above the reels. It should play absolutely fine.

** Thanks To **

Chris Wren a.k.a. Wizard (1965-2020) for MFME itself!
'Chris217' for the video on YouTube which I screengrabbed the board game from!
andy-1 for the ROMs running and base layout!

What I didnt realise is, these are exactly that of the 3 player sit down I want, but just single player. The ones I got yesterday were old school, Im even more thrilled now - Many Many Many Thanks

Some feedback for you -

On the £5 Jp, I full screen it with F3 key, like I do all my machines, and get the backdrop effect, and plays & looks perfect, escape kep brings me out of the full screen like normal

On the £35 I can full screen it, and play it as normal, but coming out of full screen, it brings me to a strecthed screen, so can't goto the file of MFME, might be something my end with screen or something, but never had that before with any other layout, and as I said, the £5 JP is perfect, but the £35 JP, only way I could come out the game, was to hit windows key, right click the mfme and close window that way

Not a real biggy but thought id mention it, the £35 took loads from me, before finally getting in only to be blown out on the 2nd spin with a roll even - Hahah

These are single player ROMs by Empire, from the £35 jackpot era. The previous machines were by Vivid in the £25 jackpot era, and I'm pretty sure they only game as a sit down with plasma video top  game, or normal game board. Gameplay seems to be pretty similar, but 1 thing I did notice is that I had a 'let em spin' a minute ago, on the £35 version, with feature symbols on the winline. I expected it to give 3 symbols on the winline for an invincible mode, but it just gave 3 symbols in view instead.

Glad you are enjoying it :)

That's odd... just tried it on mine and it worked fine on both £5 and £35 versions. To be honest I hadn't actually tried this in full-screen yet, normally I would play that way but forgot about it when putting this together. I'll try on my other PC and see if it's different as it's a different resolution :)

Thanks! I think you can tell I'm really hypes for this layout, I've played the barcrest version and in that one normal wins are a little pointless because there's no exchange, but on this not only is there a better and more joyful sample pack but there is actually a little more depth to the game.

Very nice machine. I'm glad I'm not using real money though. Put about £50 in £35 version and got about £10 back.... which has gone back in.

I'll get that Jackpot soon :D

Maybe its just my setup then, strange but not a real issue. To Echo the last comment, the £35 JP took stacks off of me :) and also, I too thought if you were to get 3 holds on the feature symbols (or a let em spin) it would be more than just a standard feature, but least I know now :)

Wow, thanks for this layout, @slotsmagic.

Played the 4 player sit down one, in Leysdown with the huge board... always liked Adders n Ladders in it's different forms over the years.

I believe this is the one with the smug voice that goes "Climbing up....." going up the ladder and "Sliding down..." going down the ladder.

It does, I've never been in the UK so I can't say I've ever seen one, but I've watched loads of different videos of the 4 player "arena" version as I call it, and even a few of the casino cab version (which this is)
