Project Cabinet build

So I’m just about to start my new cab build.  It’s going to be fairly simple as I have a decent cab already.  I plan on removing the dual screens and fit my incoming sleek Acer 27” touchscreen.  10 point multitouch.  I’m not having buttons but the screen, slight modification of my cab to fit this massive screen. Also this cab has the needed ledge to rest your arms when using touchscreen. Hoping it will be comfy.

Here are my parts far.  Cab was from spa.

Screen will be fitted portrait orientation.  Logo, Perspex and led shizzle in the works.

So... doing some initial testing and portrait widescreen monitor are not the best fit for most fruit machines as the screen is too long, probably a 5:4 ratio would be better but touchscreen monitors at those specs are very expensive.  There are ways I can overcome this problem.  Some kind of artwork along the top of the screen etc.  Full cab DX layouts will be fine.

Ive reworked a layout I plan to release next year at some point.  It’s looking stunning in screen tests.

This touchscreen is epic, 27” goodness 😊.

I might even just mount it on a wall with some kind of shelf blow it and a casino chair.

The quality of the artwork is very high and looks very realistic with the lamp work I’ve already done so far.

The dimensions are a straight 1080/1920 portrait, not quite 4K but the screen size is immense and hoping it will be emmersive.  No buttons just touchscreen controls.

It will be interesting how it turns out, good idea mounting TV on wall and having a control unit below it. Doesn't necessarily have to be in a cabinet does it? Whatever suits you.

I'm 80% through mine, just the payouts to do, and I'm spreading the cost too, 1 item a month lol.

I'm using an old touch quiz machine similar to what you have in the pic. I liked the idea of touch screen (less to wire up).

I had a shower thought the other day, I want to build one half the size then I can have it in the house. God damn shower thoughts!

OK, so I decided to turn my (non working) SG Nevada T7 cab into mame and dual screen mfme.   I have a multitouch digitiser on way to handle the touch required for proper mfme use.

I plan on investing in one of these ‘casino buying decks’ when I can find a supplier.  This would be a game changer for mfme cab, the button deck is basically a really wide and short pcap monitor so button panel can be designed in mfme like normal :).

Button Deck....   need!!!

Below are just pics of where I am.  This was one of the simpler builds as it was pretty much all in place.  I added a fairly old hi-spec machine* and drilled some holes for arcade buttons, I do have a trackball coming, looking forward to some marble madness ;)

If I manage to source a button deck this will take over and it will become a dedicated mfme cab ;)

Also I’m having this unit resprayed in white, it will look sexier than it does.

* Here are the PC specs, the pc parts came in at £50, which was a bit of a bargain to be fair.

Gigabyte GA-Z68 1155 motherboard with sandybridge i5 2500K, I don’t plan on overclocking it, though it is an excellent chip for that.  8gb ddr3, 128gb SSD drive and I repurposed a 250 watt PSU, I’m not adding a graphics card just yet but this board can run 2 graphics cards in SLI mode, a bit overkill for what it will be used for ;).  Will need to add a bigger PSU if I add graphics.

I started this at 7pm.  I had the parts all ready so was a quick little project.

I had to take gut the looks that were fitted and take apart a case for it’s motherboard mount, drill lots of rivets out!!!!   Plus had to drill some holes for joystick and buttons.

The cab already had nice speakers so have repurposed those too.  I might get a little 2:1 setup, I’ll be needing some bass for sure ;)
