* i followed on with a c64 and then saved heavy to get the Amiga 500 for £399 (bundled with shit i might add..)

then a B2000 and on to the a1200 tower, 030 32GB ram, HD CDrom etc. etc. etc. basically, when i went to Pcs, it was so similar it was uncanny.

now running a home built 8 core, water cooling etc. etc.

next ? hmm

The thing I find totally mind blowing are the demos people still write for the old 8 bits, I was watching some Spectrum ones earlier, some are insane, pushing the machines to their limits and then pushing them further, impressive stuff.

Yes and it seems to be that the Russians excel at doing this.

Some would be forgiven for thinking it never died over there...

Love it, love it, love it😍

Use to have one of these, an Atari, a Nintendo and a Commodore 64 too.(ok, was a bit of a spoilt child!) All the old stuff like Dungeons and Dragons, Rampage, Carnage, Narc, Defender and shit loads of other games. Nostalgia at its greatest.

Not quite as expensive as maybe an issue one ZX Spectrum 48K.  All Spectrum models have their value, I have 2 Spectrum +3 machines and quite a number of ZX Spectrum 48k rubber and plus models.  The toasty and the original rubber keyboard Spectrums are iconic machines,

I think I paid around £185 for this.  It needed a new keyboard membrane but works perfectly.  Could do with a recap at some point.  The only one I need for my collection is a ZX80, difficult to find one in decent condition as the plastic was fairly flimsy on those models.

@Reg Heard a few mates have got theirs this week, you as well?    Insane prices on Ebay already.

Nope.

I got the accelerated one so wait until the Base units ( done ), plus units ( I think in progress ) and then the Accelerated ones will be built.

I reckon a couple of weeks - it's like two years overdue so what is a few more days !

Many thanks, missed the Kickstarter last time! Got a Vega through Indiegogo (crap!), forgot to back the Vega+ (dodged a bullet there!!). Kept meaning to pack this but ultimately forgot. Decided to hunt around after people started receiving but refused the prices they were going for, so hopefully these are sensibly priced and I remember this time :)

This machine is absolutely worth it.

I know another member that has one, I think he'd 100% agree as well. :)

Well due to a few things, mainly documented on here and FB, I had to pull out early last time , @Geddy knows all about that, baboom kish. :)

Anyway, I'm in this time, and it's flying, currently £1.1M, loads of stretch goals fullfilled.  Yeah I'm paying more than KS1, but sod it.  I think the things that have gone on this year shows, life really is short, if you get any chance of fun, enjoyment, happiness, grab it while you can.  So I've bought the Next Plus, as pi zeros are only a few quid now to add it.

Anyway, I'll still use my ZX Uno, and certainly the MISTer, but this is getting it's own monitor and amp! :)

Why don't they just do a Spectrum Mini with a working keyboard, a joystick and games for £59.99 or similar.

They did - it was the ZX Vega and then they had the failed Indigogo ZX Vega+.

Different company - but an absolute shit show it turned into.

This was the ZX Vega, this sort of worked out ok...

This was the ZX Vega+, my god what a horror story...

I'd like to see something that looks like a rubber keyed 48k Spectrum, but in mini form.

At the moment, there seems either be a full sized lookalike and these weird looking mini consoles, that don't really even look like a Spectrum.

Look at the C64 mini, it looks like the real thing in mini form, largely because the keyboard is represented, even though it's not useable.

Surely it's not difficult, to produce a Spectrum equivalent, with a joystick.
