Triple Awards at the Power Plant

Recommended Posts

This one has been a very long time coming and there is a reason for this...

...if you do something too quickly after a release, then there is a risk that the article will be caught up within the original layout and exposure fades.  By doing this now, there is a chance that this will bring new visibility of this layout to some people that were simply not around when it happened – and oh boy – did this one happen.

This layout is Homer’s Meltdown…

During the world of MFME, there has always been standout layouts, something that is very special here and this is one of them by a newcomer to the scene.

This designer first appeared over at Fruit-Emu talking about a (Scratch Drawn) Homer’s Meltdown in November 2017.

He was a huge fan of The Simpsons and an equally bigger fan of Homer’s Meltdown fruit machine.  The problem with this machine was the resources were simply not up to scratch to make even a half decent machine.

For this designer, it was not a problem.  He had an awesome skillset that allowed him to physically re-drawn the machine and fix countless problems on this.

For example, this is one of several posts that he did...

...it is the attention to even the smallest details such as the colour of the drop of foam that makes this such an outstanding release.

The original artwork will not exist for this machine anymore, but @Benjamoose has made something that could be conisdered a master template if Maygay had still exisited and wanted to upgrade this machine to a £70 version for sake of argument.  It is like he has made the master files for these.

There is no review of this really but beyond to say that this machine is just simply excellent.  The time, effort and energy that has gone into the creation of this warrents this machine a place in pretty much anyones collection who likes The Simpsons.

This is the beauty of MFME today.  We are not in an era where the maximum resolution is 1280x1024 and the power of graphic design tools today coupled with the amazing technology of MFME and the callout goes to the resize feature of the screens, we can now have amazing layouts.

We may never see a layout from @Benjamoose again.  However for the time, effort, blood, sweat and tears that went into this labour of love, the token awards that this site gives, it is a pleasure to give this designer two awards, plus cabinet approved one as it really works well in the cabinet as below.

Note

Video audio goes out of sync post 8:00 min mark.  This is an old video from 2017 and the original source is gone.  Decided to leave it.  This is due to the Hero Camera changing files and a slight error on my editing.

It's down to the magic of @Wizard and all the designers.

It is so awesome to be able to play layouts this way.   Years ago in the world of FME, this would have just been a pipe-dream - it was !

Have never smoked and hated reaching to collect my winnings only to find some pig had used it as an ashtray :( Retired from real world gambling 20 years back, but still remember the disgust of that

That's a great layout, and exactly the type of machine I used to love. It was like playing a game and the gambling was incidental, which is what I'm sure they were aiming for!
