Pointing out the obvious, but that's not Sphinx, the layout is using Pyramid roms, I think.

It says welcome to the Pyramid upon feature entry!

Sure Sphinx said welcome to the Sphinx.

Can anyone else remember?

NQ.

Well it says "Sphinx V1" on the display when it starts up.

Plus as pointed out in the video, there are differences in the machines, such as nudge squares on the feature board, so definitely Sphinx running on the DX.

I guess it says pyramid because it is still a pyramid or because Electrocoin couldn't be bothered or forgot to change it.

Welcome to the tomb or crypt perhaps would have been a good alternatives.

I think you're right, they forgot or couldn't be bothered to change it.

Anyway, I'm wearing my orthapedic shoes now, and stand corrected.

Yes, I will post the rom later this evening,  We do have 'switchable' rom for Pyramid, viewing the file in a hex editor I can see 5p play, 10p play and 20p play, so I assume it is switchable.  Not sure if the phoenix dil switches are set up correctly, I don't have access to a machine manual.  Maybe someone who has one can relay the dil option switches.

I found a Pyramid manual from Spa's google drive.   No option to switch, going from that manual, but these roms came out after the initial release so I believe they are switchable, though I've tried all dips with no luck.   These were definitely switchable back in the day I pretty certain.

Yes, I've tried everything, maybe these roms aren't switchable after all :(.    Maybe Chris could take a look, looking at an actual switchable rom (labyrinth £10), you can see in the hex editor as you switch the dip, the byte at a certain location changes corresponding to the price of play in hex...  0A - 10p, 14 - 20p and 19 - 25p.   Maybe they could be hacked but I don't have the time to look into it at the minute.

Anyway here is Spinx £6 token roms, these are switchable via bank 2 dip.  Switch 6 is 10p play, switch 7 is 5p play.  Default is all off for 20p play.

It was a pretty decent skill machine this for a decent player back in the day.   This one won't cheat on reel skill, not sure if there is a flag that will make it cheat if unable to afford jackpot.  But I hit reel skill 4 times without it slipping, I did skill cash once for the jackpot, not sure if that can cheat but the last one does go pretty fast.   Great machines though.   They didn't have a streak, they could pay a fair bit but they never had a pronounced streak, shame as it would have made it an even better machine.

Thank you again Degsy for another 50 mins of pleasure. Only ever seen on one of these back in the day and as with any machine from the token pre cash some much more enjoyable than like you said the £70 shit that are about today.

You made me laugh about the bit were you've put your money in and getting down to your last bit of money and the cold clammy sweats, getting hot rush thing going on !!! had that many of time and trying to contain myself from dragging the thing outside and smashing it up cause you dont wont to get barred, cause guess what? your coming back again tomorrow to do it all again.

Classic.👍

If you're subscribed to my channel and have notifications turned on you'll have had a bit of a blizzard of notifications about new videos over the last few days, (well, four notifications over four days, specifically), but they're all online slots videos. (I was trying to prove a point for the folks over at Casinomeister, it went rather better than I was expecting.....)

However, I have not forgotten about my true love which is fruit machines and fruit machine emulation - so here's this week's new video :)

Thanks to my 'mysterious benefactor' for sorting out the layout config so this would work in the emulator. (He doesn't want any limelight in particular, but a lot of my 'emptier' style videos wouldn't have happened but for his input, advice, explanations, and patience!)

Also a bit a of FME history in this video :)
