Fantastic release and loving the new format to the site Pook.

Only recall this slot set on 30p/£15 jackpot-loads of them were in the bingo halls.

Will the decals change to 30p/£15 and if so how do you do that?-had a go in the config but havn't a scooby doo lol.

Any help appreciated.

A very nice DX of a machine, which until I started playing, I thought I hadn't played before.

But as soon as a feature symbol landing and the ohhh noise happened and the nudge music played, I remembered I had definitely played it and they had several of them in a line, in my old haunt The Crystal Rooms Leicester Square.

Always great to see the actual reel band for the machine as well, always a nice finishing touch, so thanks to Ploggy also.

It was the cherry I was having trouble finding, seems BWB liked changing things just slightly to Barcrest ones. I asked Ploggy who didn't have them but was very helpful pointing me towards a flyer for BWBs Tic Tac Toe Gold that used them. Luckily flyer was good enough quality to cut out and skew to the right perspective.

the crystal rooms,  scary place in the 80's/90's, robbed several times in there and nearly fell into the clutches of naughty people a few times.... as an older person now I can't believe I risked that place just to gamble (only ever went when I was banned or to young to play everywhere else in South London).

Yep said it before on FME forums, several times, my second home from 1988 until at least 1996. Still visited several times a month, up until the early 2000's. Luckily I never had any real trouble, but if you knew me personally, you would know that the people I associated with there, were the last people you would expect me to have anything to do with. People I worked with thought I was so straight laced, I'd just go to work, then go straight home, when all the time, I would be trawling the arcades around Piccadilly, Leicester Square, Oxford Street and Chinatown.

Only time I saw trouble in an arcade, was in Lewisham, when a group of hooded blokes came in and gemmied several machines open, while the woman who worked there shouted get out, get out. To be fair, they just went for machines not being played and didn't threaten anyone. I left before the police arrived, not wanting to be involved and risk having my head gemmied open at a later date.

And there I was thinking some of the arcades in the North resemble unflushed toilets!!

Are the arcades mentioned still open today??

Well The Crystal Rooms last time I looked was there, but not sure if it's now one of those walk in casinos as there are several in that area now. Last time I went in there was years ago and they did have some casino style Novomatics in there amongst the AWPs.

A small arcade on the Edgware Road was still there a couple of years ago, according to Google Maps.

The others in Central London I don't know, Ironically for the past 12 years I've actually worked closer to them than ever.

The arcade in Lewisham I think still exists, it was a Quicksilver iirc.

I have a few days off in the next few weeks I might take a walk around and see if they are still there for nostalgia reasons. As much as I did my dough and then some back in the day, it would be nice to see if they still exist.  Most emulated machine memories pre the DOND machine and beyond era, where from those haunts.

Bet you wished you didn't ask now lol.

No not at all.

It's interesting to know what is about around the country, and more to the point what is left out there in arcade land.

On my doorstep is Blackpool (and you would never think it was half term here!)-been along the sea front twice in the last week and to say it's dead is an understatement!!

3 arcades were closed and don't think I counted any more than 80 people along the front!

Real is getting beyond bad here and I can't imagine it is much better around the country.

I was in Blackpool a month ago visiting a mate and only Coral Island was slightly busy.

Re The Crystal Rooms I think it has become like the walk in casino at Coral Island.

Did 4 nights gambling in The Castle Genting Casino. Actually ended up by about £500.

Crystal rooms still there, was surprised with all the "gentrification/sanitising/chain effect" going on at leccy square, but I notice on the website it closes at 5pm 6 days a week.. I walk past it all the time and never get the urge to go back in luckily.

Was the one in lewisham next to the clock tower, think I went in once, but that really was a scary place (albanian or turkish billiard hall above that row of shops, was warned to stay away by some of my fellow workers in the lewisham center in case i got caught in the cross fire of a gangland feud.. )

Although I;m back in London now, I still have half a house in Blackpool, and believe me, the whole place it's dire most of the year, but it will not "open" till easter weekend.... it hasn't helped the train line from preston to blackpool is closed for upgrade work at the moment.

Yes the arcade in Lewisham was next to the clock tower, it's still there, went past it a few days back. It's now an Admiral and open 24 hours.

Going to take a look around my old haunts on Wednesday next week, when I have to come up to London for a hospital appointment. Looking at Google Maps, The Crystal Rooms, looks to have been swallowed up into being part of the Hippodrome walk off the street style Casino. One of the other arcades I played in, still seems to be there, now a Play to Win arcade. But of course the maps aren't super current.

Blackpool is just a getaway from London for a few days break now and then, to see a mate who now lives in Fleetwood, who I've known since I was a kid. So never that bothered about the weather, but prefer to go, when the kids are at school.

This is exactly why I wanted to move to a forum based site, some really interesting reading in this thread. :)
